Hi Guys,

Done a little reading now, but was wondering if there is a kitlist for the Cpt Miller (SPR fame) 2nd Ranger loadout anywhere?

Most of it I can work out, but the jacket and pants are causing me some issues...

Captain Miller has M1936 Mustards on, not HBTs

Great thanks Paul, well always been an interest of mine so thought I'd do something about it.

Are you reffering to the pants?

Yup, some of the other guys in the squad are wearing hbts, but miller has mustard trousers on.

Nice to see another person going for the leg infantry impression :)

his complete kit list would be:
m1 helmet
us officers shirt with captain an branch of service crossed rifles pips
m41 jacket with 2nd ranger diamond on left arm
m1936 mustard trousers
us leggings
roughout boots
infantry assualt vest
e tool
Thompson mag bag
colt 45 holster
officer map case
pistol belt

depending on what part of the film you go for, he has the black rubberised gas mask bag during the landings, and the gas alert brassard oh the upper right arm. Both of which he ditches when he gets to the shingle. Be careful when using SPR and BoB for kit reference as it's not always correct. However if you're doing a 'captain miller from spr' impression, you've got a lot of reference to what he wears in the film :good:

Yup, totally understand what you mean, similar things occur in the more modern stuff I do.

The assualt vest, I hear that was usually ditched also? One other question, were officers only issued with the thopmson? Ever issued the garand or carbine?

Well i wouldn't worry to much about getting the right weapon for Rank. If you lost it in battle you'd pick up the next available thing.

Im not to sure if certain weapons were given to different ranks.

Issued, I am not sure. But there are plenty of pictures of officers in the infantry using the Carbine, and the M1 Garand was famously used by Colonel Gavin of the 82nd during overlord (not to mention the numerous British commando officers who liked to use it).

Well for an officer who may have more commanding to do than shooting, the carbine is a much more practical weapon than the Tommy.

Just about everything about it is lighter and less cumbersome.

although, never seen a pic of a PFC using a tommo?

but then again, this is airsoft, not reenactment.
its worth at least trying to get it right, but not everyone has the money

Now a 'namsofter. I have an M72 L.A.W. for sale for 110 posted, PM if interested.

You guys do raise some interesting points. Think I will decide on a weapon first, looking like a 2nd bat custom garand at the moment, always wanted one. But knowing me me I'd prob get a carbine or Thompson too....

If you get the money to get all three then why not! :)

Using what Miller had in SPR isnt the best reference in getting the kit / loadout right from a historical point of view, but you have to outweight that against what you'll use best at airsoft. I use all gas rifles rather than fast firing AEGs, thats just my style of play, so something like a thomspon isn't really me anymore.

Best thing to do to avoid any fringe on what's "correct" just leave your uniform unranked, most soldiers in ww2 took off the ranks after conflict because it made them more of a target for snipers. That way you could have the loadout of an NCO with a thompson, but still look like a PFC if the game required that.

If you absolutely must put insignia on, sew it on, don't glue or iron it on. You may well find you'll need to remove it or change it for some events!

All three!!! Eek not sure about thatright now, my l119a1 systema was the last aeg I ever though I'd get lol!

Anyway, the 2nd bat custom carbine is designed to fire 14 round clips sp that suits me great.

You guys raise some good points, got me thinking that basing my kit on this is not going to be that felxible, however I'd still like that orange 2 on the rear of the helmet ;-)

But then you'd be restricting yourself to the amount of impressions you'd be able to do, without having to repaint your helmet all the time.
