Hi there, first time posting. A friend of mine told me that he'd found this forum really helpful so I joined up.

I've got myself an m6 scabbard that I'd like to move down to the ankle from my belt and I was hoping someone could suggest the best way of keeping it secure. I know that there was an issued strap that went around the top but what's the preferred way of looping this through the scabbard, just around the top or through the metal loops? A photo of how you wear yours would help me loads if possible.

I've also see a photo of someone using what looked like a big loop of elastic, I assume this probably isn't historically accurate but does it work well?

Thanks for any help you can give me

ES

Hi ES,

It attaches more to your boot rather than your actual leg really.

1- Lace up your corcoran boot lace though the eyelet at the bottom of the scabbard
2- Use any strap to go around your leg, pass it though the double split in the back of the scabbard where the straps with the pop-stud come out of. Some say that there was a 'specific strap' however it would likely to have just been a bit of webbing strap 'rigger' modified to keep it in place. I use a section of the webbing straps (the narrow part on the suspenders) with one of the buckles so it can tighten to fit.

Et Voila

:)

Also just thinking on, if your scabbard came with the leather strap you could use that to tie it around the top (around your leg) rather than the webbing strap.

Thanks so much Webby. I'd never considered feeding the strap through there though it seems obvious now that you've pointed it out. I've just tried it and it's so much more comfortable and secure then my previous attempts.
