Just got an original unissued WW1 US Bar belt and to my horror the web belt that connects the 2 sets of pouches is guess what-ORANGE looking
Ive never owned any WW1 dated US webbing before so not sure if this was common but i wonder if the 1st run SOF webbing was made up going by samples of this sort of webbing so is in a way correct-but maybe not for WW2
It's possible that the dye has deteriorated over 90 years....
I've seen alot of pictures of original webbing thats got an orange tint to it. Especially the 1911 mag pouch.

Wouldnt have thought so as it looks like it was made yesterday(which it most certainly wasnt
)
maybe it is an SOF first run segment, the pouches are genuine, the belt bit isnt.

Regardless, the colour of the vegetable dyes would have changed. I think Flibble reenacts WWI so he might be able to shed some light on this.
FLIBBLE!?!?!?
Doesn't look too orange to me... Looks kinda dark tan. It's certainly not SOF orange which would make even the most ardent Irish protestant blush.

The belt bit has the same makers stamp as the Left and Right parts
