Hey guys,
I was wondering if you could help me.
Currently I have my Ranger helmet chin strap clasped up at the back but I was thinking of letting the chin strap down to dangle at the sides for a more rugged look, would this be acceptable?
I was trying to find photos online but the pics either show the rangers with the chin straps actually used to fix the helmet to the head or calsped at the back as stated.
thanks for any info,

Why particularly do you want it dangling down, when you're running it will slap you in the face. I was under the impression that the chin strap dangling down was more common in Vietnam rather than WW2. Also I always thought it was quite convenient strapped up around the back. Just my thoughts...

Jeez bud,
sorry if I offended, maybe I was getting influenced by cheesy 60's/70's ww2 movies I saw as a kid, but I always thought it looked kind of cool.
I will keep the straps tied to the back if it was indeed was that rare.

Maybe that was taken the wrong way, didn't mean to sound harsh was just conveying my opinion on wearing them down. From an aesthetic point of view if you want to then go for it!
But from a practical point of view...if you let them dangle then turn your head sharply during a game you are going to get whipped in the face with the big metal buckle on the bottom of the strap. Didn't mean to sound harsh...

no problemo bud, cheers for the nice reply!
The more I check the more I notice most G.I's tied up the straps at the back of the helmet, and I certainly cant find any pics of Rangers leaving their straps loose.
I think I will take your advice and leave the straps clasped at the back, like you said they will be swinging about all over the place!

on my m1 airborne helmet i have the canvas fastened up at the back, but i have on occasion had the leather jump chincup dangle, it has smacked me in the chops a few times. i imagine a nice metal clip will hurt even more.
I can't do my para one up at the back, so it gets clipped onto my net if I have one.
Never had a problem with strappy slapping.....so to speak.

Happened to me in a totally none Airsoft related event, had straps dangling, whipped head round and the hooked end of the chinstrap whipped me on the nose. It was not a pleasant experience and that's why I put mine up at the back of the helmet.
