I recently picked this up -

It was advertised as a US ww2 map case but it kinda looks like a combination of the British 37 pattern case and the US cases. No markings, there seems to be a small (2p size) circle in feint ink in random places but this could be storage marks. Someone has pencilled "L R D" above the pencil sleeves.

Can anyone Id this?

It's not one I've seen before. But to be honest it does look more British than US to me.

The poppers remind me of the WWI british officer's one I have. In fact most of it looks a bit pre-war private purchase type to me.

Though it is big and an odd pattern, perhaps not a case intended for an infantry officer, but some other job?

Of course it may be another nationality altogether.

Apart from the advert, what about it looks US to you? I'm struggling to find anything that looks more US in design than brit.

Heck it may even be civilian!

Have you asked the seller why they think it's US and for any other info they may have?

Postwar Dutch. Dutch made.

As a comparison; here's a picture of a 1940s dated Mills Co. (British manufacturer) produced one. Mills Web Equipment Co still produced web material items for other countries post war, mainly for Holland and Israel! - quite a lot of it was made from old war-dated kit, hence the 1940s date (I've a green Dutch pistol holster which was made from a dyed and heavily modified RAF blue 37pat holster!), as the item below was. Note the Dutch crown stamp:

Yours is prob' around the '50s/'60s by the look of the powder coat painted poppers, and the thin tighter-weave cotton-like material.

Is that a Dutch or more than likely Danish Crown on the map case?

Sorry, yes, I'm getting my countries mixed-up. Danish is what I meant.

I did a search and found another guy who's got a Green Danish modified WW2 RAF pistol holster!
