Okay... I just got a note from ASCUK saying a new post had been made about the F&O matlock WW2 game now being on 7th Dec... fair enough I thought... its close but at least its not the same weekend.
So I thought, I'll reply, but I'll do it on the thread on here which will no doubt have been posted.
So over I come looking for it... much to my surprise though, not only is there no thread, what is more the whole F&O forum seems to have vanished.
WTF is going on guys?
That's news to me - Jamie and Bibby never mentioned it at our meeting last Saturday!
Justin deleted every single post and thread in their forum section and it was completely empty (not even historical stuff - zilch) - so I removed the section altogether.
I'm not going to get involved in disputes/private battles/company politics!
If Justin wants to get involved in the WW2 scene properly and not just use this as a revenue stream then great, he can get involved. He is quite welcome to post here like HB did about the Fireball game or Devonshire about the zombie game.

No idea. Chommers will need to answer. *EDIT - Oh he already has!*
Also, no idea what's going on with F&O's WW2 game at Matlock.
For the record, before Justin had announced the Matlock game, we were talking to Jamie and had confirmed that we would run their WW2 game in December as the 2nd Anniversary game. Didn't really make sense to hold a CiA 2nd anniversary game if we weren't running it! Then a few days later Justin announced without our prior knowledge.
A little bit of to-and-froing and we managed to sort it. I'm very surprised that Justin's now announced a game in early December, where's he going to get his player base from?

Hmmm... I wonder if this change of heart has anything to do with Josh turning up at F&O on Saturday.
There was quite a bit of discussion about WWII games going on... I didn't hear it all though. What I did hear was Justin say he was changing his mind about not running the WWII game at all... he hadn't mentioned a date though!
BTW, I've just pm'ed just about it...
There you go, site politics!
That would certainly explain things - notice Josh has had nothing to do with CiA games (not turned up himself or brought any 'teams') yet appealed to us to turn up to his? We declined his request to run the German side for Carentan having bailed him out at D-Day and D-Day +2.
I can't help feeling a little used and abused!

well yeah... people aren't talking... its not good...
BTW, Josh is planning a Caen game next year... asked me to come along as I'm was wearing my hallams uniform at the time and they were there...
I may just go depending on the date/location/scenario details.
To be honest I'd have considered going to the Caretan game, but I wanted to see who else was going before I committed... For some reason he seems unable to post a list of booked players though!
Not even the lure of free places persuaded us to go to Carentan! I don't like his game style and prefer our 'adult' approach. In fact if it wasn't for what we have managed to achieve (we - as in CIA past and present) I would have left the airsoft scene altogether...
And for the record, I don't like how Josh treats punters - is the cost £85, £100? Book quickly, places going fast? Deceitful and dubious - no wonder he won't publish a booking list. Probably the same scenario as at D-Day+2 - half the number of Germans compared to Allied as Germans who 'booked and paid' didn't turn up and those that were 'paying on the gate' didn't show either. Right.

Yeah I don't like the pricing scheme and it is also a key reason why I haven't booked so far...
Anyway I posted about the booking list stuff on the Carentan thread and how it has effected my decision so far.
We'll see if he posts one and if he does I'll make a decision then... To be honest though its rather short notice now!
Josh is a money grabber, short and simple. We (PBI and CiA) write and organise games for the benefit of the punter and take nothing from it, other than enjoyment and satisfaction.
It's unlikely that Josh is going to break even for Carentan, his games have attracted progressively less people as time has passed. He increasingly relies on fresh blood (from noobs and reenactors) who haven't been to his games previously and who think this is the be-all and end-all of WW2 airsoft.
I can't see him continuing beyond Christmas with it. (I hope)
Despite all our previous support he has continued to work against us, by organising games at the same time as other organisers, and never EVER promotes this website or forum, or our games, despite us doing the same for him.
I'd like to see us removing his specific forum from this website TBH.

We now have payed - 28 Axis and 41 Allied, still quite a few guys that were on the prebook thread NOT booked on and loads of guys from other forums taking those places. Theres also a pile of germans from sbg (the sound ones) booking on. I recon we will hit 100 players buy the end of the month pay cheque.
Look at Gunman's own forum and see how few people have said they have sent forms - and also note the lack of punter postings and enthusiasm. Gunman isn't on ASCUK - where are these loads of guys from other forums? There was supposed to be a load of 'SBG' at D-Day+2 but none to be seen.
And bugger me - he has started a thread on his own forum about the F&O game on Dec 7th. Never a word about CiA games or PBI for that matter...
I've said it before but I'll say it again, while the beach landings was great to get involved in (only wish we had run it, so much could have been better) I do wish I hadn't been instrumental on giving Josh a foothold in the WW2 (sorry, 2WW) genre. ![]()

yup... I'm not sure why he can't just post a list of booked and paid player names?
Because he doesn't have them.

Well that's a fair conclusion... ![]()
From a purely practical point of view, how many people have asked if Josh has received the money and are they booked in? A 'booked' list is both efficient and transparent - chaps can see at glance that all is well...

agreed...
Well, he has posted the list - 42 Allied, 24 Axis and he has included all the leaders and marshals in that too. No idea on the Brit/US mix.
Names I recognise: Josh, Dave Manning, Boshman, Doug 'Mac', Beds'n'Herts plus a couple of new bods.

Heh... well if he's posted a list a few weeks ago... along with which nationalities they were playing I might have considered going...
As it is things are now booked in for that weekend elsewhere... d'oh! ![]()
Which reminds me... you going to the militaria fair in derby that weekend dave? I'll be there on the sunday.
I'll have to go on Saturday - we have been summoned to a family get-together for Grandmother's 96th birthday on the Sunday, she is declining rapidly so may be her last. Can't wriggle out of that one!

Darn it!
I may be able to change to Saturday... I'll see what I can do... ![]()
okay... re-orged with the missus!
Saturday I'll be at Derby with Gadge... Sunday I'll be at Makro buying nappies with Rachel... lol
