I know it's not really WW2 but as you guys use them as a base for M1 conversions i thought you might know and i could'nt really find a good review on the net.

I want to know how is the AGM M14 is it a good gun do you recommend it as i need a gun for Modern/Nam/WW2 purposes aswell as a mabe M1 conversion, so basically i want a sumerical short review of the AGM M14, ie reliability, accuracy, metal parts and basically how good it is.

I have had one in my hand a few weeks ago. Verry nice. I am looking to convert 1 to a BAR and 1 to a Garand. I think they knock out at 320fps.

Or try the KART M14, it looks nice, 330fps out the box, only bad thing is it had too much grease in it which I have now removed & put quality silicome grease on the piston seal, before it was spitting grease into the hop & barrel,

Only 2 things about them I dont like, the gearbox casings on all variations of M14 look weak as they only have 2 screws securing the 2 halves of the box together, I guess when the motor cradle is fitted it gives you more strength as it adds 2 more screws but the rigidity needs to be at the front, by the cylinder head, you only have 1 screw here, & the other thing I don't like is the complexity to dismantle & re assemble the gun, they look nice though

Yea i read a review about the AGM M14V2 and basically the guy never got to use it after one mag he lost smi auto, and after three mags the gun was broke, and i have also read more reviews all saying they broke after about 1 game so i think il look for somthing else.

All the M14 have a metal receiver fitted around the gearbox which is quite sturdy so that must add strength to the whole set up.
As far as I know that gearbox is only in the M14 that is the reason I left the M14 receiver on the gear box when I made my 1919A4 Browning.

yer the reviews i have read have put me off, gearbox breaking, mags not feeding, semi auto breaking, insides of guns shreading, but this may have been cause by using a too powerfull battery mabe, i dont know.

I think if you leave them as standard and don't change the spring or motor they are probably ok.
The mags on an AGM are not great so just fit a TM they work well and are higher cap.
The M14 shoots at about 330 ish and is quite accurate as long as it's not the tanker version.
Most WW2 games they want you in semiauto so no point in changing a motor for a higher rate of fire.
Also the amount of ammo you go through in a WW2 game is going to mean they should last years which is quite good for about

Are you sure you're not reading reviews on the earlier Kart M14 as I've not seen any really bad reviews of the AGM one.

I actually own one and I've not had any problems with it, also the guy who does the Garand convertions uses AGM's and I don't think he would continue using them if they had major failings as it would affect his sales.

My Garand is made from an AGM M14, it shot well out of the box but I changed the hop rubber & unit for TM ones and fitted a tight barrel, so it seems pretty good now. The hop adjuster feels a bit loose though, but I don't think it drifts out of position once set.

mine drifts slightly, but even though i made a tanker garand from it it os still as accurate as a very accurate thing, the shorter length makes it very easy to handle

I saw a tip on ASCUK - wrap some plumber's tape around the thread of the adjuster this should make it tighter. Haven't tried it yet.

CH Three, some members on here say that you`ve chopped a few M14 mags for the Garand conversion. Any chance you could post some instructions please :)

I will do on the other thread on M14 / Garand conversions over the weekend. Sorting my kit to go to the new F&O site tonight.

You get about 11/12 shots from them. In firefights at CR it really gave me a feel for how careful ww2 soldiers had to be with their ammo, changing mags after just 12 shots. I went on to a mid cap once all 10 of my small mags were empty and never got round to reloading them.

Cheers
