its been mentioned many times that the mp40 should be fully automatic fire only and that the selecta switch on the agm is particularly ugly, this has led many people to do away with it altogether to improve the look of the gun and also be more real in operation.when i got mine i have to agree its ugly but im of the opinion that it is also usefull because there are many games in whitch there is a call to go to single shot when the range gets close to prevent unnessasery overkill and injury.to this end this is my solution,a slightly more subtle selecta switch.
needs a re paint yet,ive just blacked it in for now to see how it looks

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.

What a good idea - a very neat solution. It would be useful to see the linkages behind the panel...
Looks nice!
Can we have some internal pics so we can see how you've done it?
Also, have you done anything to stop it accidentally switching between semi and full whilst in use?
hope these help, its basically a bar sitting it the slot of the back of the original plastic held in place by a brackette that screws into the thickest bit of plastic and it has a 2mm steel pin fitted to activate the selecta plate on the gearbox,it uses the original spring and detant for locateing in position that was part of the original selecta.
excuse the mix and match screws, its in a never seen place

the bar is wider under the bracket and the bracket also limits movement by haveing the ends bent down, the selecta as held in position by the same spring loaded ball type thingy as the original and cant be seen as its under the bar with shallow drillings into the plastick to locate.the piece you can see and use as selecta is an aditional 1.5mm thick, the bar is 3mm thick and the two parts are welded together giving enough thickness for the spring and ball thingy to fit in .hope that explains it a bit

Looks good... AGM should have done something like that originally.
yup ,there's loads of space behind there its not cramped ,i cant see why they did what they did i mean its no more complicated, only two parts and two screws and the ball and spring.i recon the whole thing was a last minuite after thought hastily put into production and then never looked at again, mutch like many other foibles of the agm mp40 there was never any development or improvement and there still isnt despite its re-encarnation.most other airsoft guns get a gen 2 after a while that clears up all these issues, still if your a compulsive medler like me its a gold mine of stuff to do

if anybody is interested in this or my other anti rattle device then if there was enough interest say 8-10 people then it would be worth my while makeing up jigs and an instructions sheet to make a kit for people at say £25 plus postage for both the selecta and the anti rattle bracket.
it would require some drilling and tapping a couple of threads, you would need a 2.5mm drill a 3mm drill and an m3 tapp and a file or a dremel to cut a slot in the plastick side panel for it to fit pluss some body filler (from halfords)to fill in the original selecta hole.so if you arnt sure of any of that then maybe this isnt for you so think before you reply.
this could be retrofitted to one thats had the selecta removed provided you still have the original parts.
