My usually reliable Sten has packed up and I thought I'd seek advice before I completely take it to bits...
Plugged in a fresh battery and it fired 4-5 shots perfectly then packed up. I removed the lower body and can see a spark on the micro switch when I pull the trigger but the motor doesn't turn / the gearbox doesn't cycle. I can't hear anything from the gearbox at all so before I dismantle the gun, any tips? I suspect a dodgy motor...
Certainly the fact you can't hear anything at all would make me agree with you.
Not that experienced but if I'm not mistaken the switch sparking would mean that the circuit is complete so no problems with the wires to the motor or the electrical side of things in general.
Only other thing I could think of would be maybe if the battery was not putting out enough power to turn the motor at all (but still a little so it sparks), you've probably already tried a different battery though.
it's not too hard to remove the motor on those gearboxes , try it with the motor out of the gearbox.
