got this of zero in forum as i've always fancied one, this is one of the ones supplied un-painted so it saved the grief of stripping the paint.however as many people know they made the gas tube above the barrel out of brass or copper and its been a bit of a pain to black satisfactorily to put it mildly, dont bother with birchwood casey copper black its a real pain,im now going to get some "liver of sulphur" and try that, but other than that and a downgrade this is what we have.
need to black inside the cocking slot and a little of the inner barrel that shows.

stained the stock, they still put that annoying coating on the wood ever though they didn't stain it so it still needed stripping.also painted the hand grips to look bakerlite, used a tan, rust and black acrylic paint and a couple of coats of matt lacquer, not sure how mutch i like it so it might get a do over.
flash makes the grips look shinier than life

Looking sweet, mine's still in pieces after stripping Duracoat off it, I can't seem to get the Birchwood Casey Aluminium black to work.
I found the birchwood casey aluminium black wasn't very good for the job when I was bluing mine, instead I used this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Phillips-Prof ... 3f12364a88
mix with plenty of boiling water and keep (gently) rubbing the metal with a brush whilst submerged to stop it tarnishing a rust colour, mine came out like this:
Unfortunately because the agm STG is made of some unknown Chinese monkey metal its very difficult to get a nice even finish easily :L
my method for B C ally black was to wire wool it all over first then work quickly in a small area and wipe off almost immediately (no more than 5-10 seconds)and after completing each piece i buff it with a cloth to remove the matt affect .the B C ally black works really fast after wire wooling (within 1 second) ,ally creates an oxide layer after only 20 min that really badly affects the process so the black needs be used inside that time after wooling,if you leave the black on too long it just goes powdery and rubs off taking any previous colouring off with it.the wire wool also polishes away any casting surface patterns ,you always see some swirly surface patterns on the surface finish of pot metal castings and you dont want them on what should look like stamped steel parts. hope that helps,im going to order some "liver of sulphur" to try blacking the copper pipe gas tube ,i'll let you know how it works,if thats crap too then i may just paint it and be done,so far i found that ally black works better than copper black unless you apply the copper black while heating it on the stove .

the muzzle nut was standard ,when did you get you'rs and is it an agm or asg or aeg brand? mine was an agm and from a batch that was supplied to "airsoft world" in an unpainted state specifically for people to finish themselves about 2 years ago.it may be that newer ones or ones from re-branded ones have a different nut, mine is verry different to an mp40 one its got deep splines and the sight upright has a sprung catch that lock's into the spline so it cant come un-done.mine was never orange either.

i got the magazine winders,i wouldn't cry about them they break real fast and just mean you have to carry something else into the field.as for the nut im not sure what you can do,mine has an anti-clockwise thread that would mean making you one up would be expensive as a 14mm fine reverse tap costs something around £50-60 as they are a military application tool.you could try either "airsoft world" or "rsov" as both can be really helpfull.

Try contacting the guy who runs this website as he put me through to a friend of his when I had to source a replacement rear sight (its worth putting a dab of super glue on each end of the sights bar!) http://claus.espeholt.dk/wts.html
Hope that helps
finally found time to try the liver of sulphur and it works really well and instantly, more of a dark grey than black but a nice effect, just mix 1 teaspoon with 12floz of hot water,i used hot tap water and dip it,all sorts of warnings so don't gargle with it or use it to wash your face etc etc...smells bad to.

I like your finish.
I finished mine exactly the same as yours and found that the liver of sulphur/patina gave a darker finish than the Buirchwood Casey Copper Blacking stuff, but it rubs off just as easy
So I just put a clear coat of lacquer over the gas tube to protect the finish and its still on it a year later.

i was seriously thinking of clear lacquer as well, maybe a matt lacquer, also wondering what would happen if i used the copper black over the liver of sulphur?

If you are happy with the colour (it looks good to me ) I would seal it with a coat of lacquer and just and leave it at that.
