Hey guys,
on saturday, I got to hold and a brief look at the ares 1928 tommy gun prototype at the ares headquarters.
FEEL:
The gun had no rattle and everything felt solid including stock, grip, mag etc.
FEATURES:
The first thing I noticed is that unfortunately, you will have to buy a wood kit as both of the thompsons that are available from ares have very cheap looking plastic furnature. Another sweet thing about the M1928 is that it has the bolt on the top and finally, the correct stock
FINISH:
The finish on this rifle looks awesome. The finishing looks better than the King arms and the Cyma IMHO. The only thing is that the furniture isn't all that.
That's all I have for you guys at the moment! Hopefully the price isn't too bad on this because it's the first true M1928. I may have missed something out so if you have an questions, feel free to put 'em below
GUNS: (ww2)
AGM sten mkII
Classic Army Colt 1911A1 GBB pistol
ARES PPSh-41
Deact Mosin M38
Cool... glad someone finally has it right!
Shame about the wood.
Are the magazines TM/Cyma/King Arms compatible?
Is the butt removable?

Yes, both stocks are interchangeable if that's what you're asking. I don't know about the mags but knowing ares, there is no doubt that spare mags will be widely available but from what I've seen so far, yes is my answer to that.

I know it's a shame about the wood however, Ares will have wood kits (well at least wood stocks) which is the most important thing because of the 1928 stock. From my knowledge, ares wood kit don't burn a big hole in your wallet so that's no prob.

No. I mean does it come off like the real 1928, and the gun still operate with it removed?
As for the mags: Those of us who already have Thompsons won't want to buy a whole lot more mags. This is the one reason I don't have an SRC MP5.
I don't know about that but I think the battery goes into the stock. Going back to the mags, hopefully they are compatible but say for instance (like on the PPShs) the magazines feed lips are on opposite sides, you could just flip around the internals.

Certainly not on the King Arms mid caps - They're moulded one way round.
Not sure about the high caps, though.
did they mention anything about the gearbox e.g proprietary parts
did they mention anything about the gearbox e.g proprietary parts
yes this always scares me with Ares too. Spares of these parts are some what hard to get hold of.
Did it have EBB like it originally stated?

im thinking the same thing and im looking all over the net and cant find anything and ares doesnt have the best record for internals i hate how these guys are the only people to drop m4's fro a bit and give ww2 a look
has there been any news on the internals in these yet? ive tried asking ares on facebook but im getting no answer
hay lads i emailed ares for some info on the thompsons about the internals and this is what i got back
Thank you for your interest of ARES products.
The item you concern will be using a new develop electronic blow back gearbox to best fit the rifle. We haven’t got much detailed information at the moment but please keep an eye on our website for news update.
We will develop on upgrade parts if needed depends on the popularity of the products.
