It all depends on how deep your pockets are. Without going mad, I'd recommend spending some money on either a 9 ball airseal chamber, or a KM hard hop rubber to improve consistency, power and accuracy. Also, if you want Tanaka levels of power, you'll need at least PSS10 150 spring (don't forget the bearing spring guide to go with it!), which will make the gun almost impossible to cock when you are prone. You'll also need to fit upgraded trigger sears to cope with the stress that a bigger spring will bring. A PSS10 damper cylinder head will also improve the airseal, as well as consistency, which is what you're really after with a rifle and you'd benefit from fitting a metal piston as well at those levels of power. It seems expensive but, if you get a zero trigger, it comes with a piston, as well as upgraded trigger sears. Also, don't underestimate the importance of using high quality bb's, I use Maruzen Super Grandmaster .29's and they are 10 times more consistent than Straight .43's.
Tanaka K98's are lovely guns but will never be as consistent as a well put together spring rifle. Both have their advantages/disadvantages but don't get too hung up on trying to "compete" with a Tanaka. Given the choice, I'd rather have accuracy and cosistency than outright power.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

A-men to that. It's no good having an uber powerful gun if the BB's wont fly straight out of the barrel. I've wasted loads of money over the years going for power when I should have gone for conistancy and half way to accuracy.
