Maplins sells the large 'Tamiya' connectors (the white style on the left) but not the smaller 'Mini-Tamiya' connector (the black one on the right).

http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/leads_connectors.html show the page with most of the types of RC/Model power connectors, and scroll down to the bottom to buy a cable made up from them. You'll want Female 'Mini-Tamiya' on one end and Male 'Tamiya' on the other, and however long you want the cable to be (if it's just for an adaptor cable like this prob best save the coppers* (and any excess resistance) and get the shortest length.

*money, not cable

EDIT: Just as a note, even though the plastic housing of one plug goes into the plastic housing of the other, this doesn't mean that they are male and female, respecivly. It's the pins inside that will dictate whether the lug is male or female. with the Tamiya and Mini-Tamiya range of connectors this rings true, with the plastic housing of the female connector fitting inide the plastic housing of the male connector.

http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/airsoft_etc_.html

Scroll down to the bottom of the page above. What you need is the "Charger Adapter Lead", with this picture -

http://www.component-shop.co.uk/assets/ ... _TS2T1.jpg

Item Description -

"Connects to the mini-tamiya connector of the battery & gives female
standard Tamiya style connector to connect to most popular chargers.
Approx 100mm (4”) long."

£1 each plus p&p which is a min 50p from memory.

What McVickers is saying about Male and Female is correct. For example, in your picture above, the large one on the left is a Female Pin with Male Housing. It's usually best to define exactly what you want using that terminology.

However, I can pretty much guarantee that the adapter leads above from Component Shop supplied as standard will fit your connectors pictured. So you don't need to worry about it.

Sorry to butt in late on this thread, but I'm new to the forums and was just browsing through, and saw this thread. Yes they are tamyia connectors and a pain and very inefficient connection. I would really reccomend looking at converting your batteries and guns ove to "Deans" type connectors. They are a gold plated sprung flat plate connector that allows a much better connection from the battery to the motor, giving a 2-3 rps increase in rof. Basically your battery will be able to do it's job better.
Hope this helps
Jim

Are the Dean connectors any bigger than the Tamiya?

Battery compartmens are generally very tight hence the question...

No, Deans are really rather small, and are great for fitting batteries into tight fore-grips without having to worry about space for a large or mini Tamiya connector. They're basically push-together conjoined polarised terminators for wires. The only down side to them is that they do not lock together, and only rely on the friction of the push fit to keep them together, much like a DIN plug, but they do hold really rather well though (rather tight fitting).

Below is a picture of the standard Deans 'Ultra' connectors which are the most commonly used:

Below if the quad-pin version, rather uncommon but hey-ho what-the-heck probably maximised the available surface area to provide a better contact. This set if being used on an airsoft gun:

If fitting them, always make the 'battery-side' of the connection the female connector, so as to avoid any accidental shorting, and heatshrink both soldered connections.

I can't help but think swapping to Dean connectors is rather academic - I've never had a problem with large or small Tamiya connectors. Higher fps just empties your mag quicker!

The big problem is one of practicality - swapping batteries. Your mates battery dies and you lob him a spare (and vice versa) only works with commonality of connectors, a fist full of adaptor leads would be a PITA!

Yup its true... I'm just considering it as space in the stock of my sten is quite tight.

Yes, small size is a plus - I wish all batts had the small size Tamiya connector as I'm always trying to jam them in the Thompson wood stock.

yeah its quite tight in the thompson as well... but the tightness in the sten is so much so that the wiring has suffered and the backplate is a little bent.

OK, time for a thickie question from me.

I need to buy a small connector to charge my small batteries. I just need the wire with a small connector at one end and bare wires at the other to plug into the spring clips on my charger.

Question is, do I need 'Male Connector on 140mm lead (Airsoft)' or 'Female Connector on 140mm lead (Airsoft)'.

I would just check the batteries, but I'm not at home at the moment.

You need a male connector, all the plugs on batteries are normally female :)

Except that the way the genders are done on the small batts is the opposite to the large ones...

I can't remember which is which way around though.

FFS, who thinks this shit up?

I can easily swap around the wires on my charger, thus changing the polarity. Can anyone give me definitive guidance on the polarity/gender of the small battery connectors when charging?

Yith is correct, the square terminal on large type is positive whilst the round on the small type is positive. I`ve got a simple adaptor which clips onto my normal charger lead which consists of a large female plug wired to a small male plug.
Component shop do them for a quid (at the bottom of their airsoft page) :)
