How easy/hard are they? I intend to get two AEGs, a Sten and an Stg44. I know there is the Shoei gas blowback model, but the cost is too high for me.
So what does modding the AGM Stg44 and AGM Sten 2 entail? How expensive is it and what level of skill is needed?

It's possible, but, tbh, not advisable.
here'a vid to someone who's modded a Cyma Thompson
The main problem you'll have is that it puts a crapload of extra strain on the gearbox and piston which neither were designed for, and so you'll be shredding them fairly regularly, if you use it much.
Especially with the AGM stuff, which although fairly well built and quite reliable these days, it's still Chinese knockoff stuff, and the internals are made to a fairly low tolerance to their load limits. Add extra strain, and you're asking for trouble.
It doesn't really add much to the gun in use, and is yet another weak point in the system.
For me it does add much. It looks better, sounds better (more noise) and adds some measure of recoil. I'm willing to pay with faster wear for it.
If the AGM gearboxes are not up to the task, what about swapping gearboxes? I think I saw "blowback gearbox" thingies somewhere on the net?

It's not so much 'faster wear', it's more 'frequent instantaneous and catastrophic implosion' from what I've seen.
The mods won't add recoil (there's no weight to the bolt, it's a sheet of flat plate), and the noise just goes 'clickclickclick' which is still pretty much drowned out by the 'phutphutphut' of the gun itself.
You could possibly try finding a blowback AK and replacing the MP44 box with it, but I don't think there's an equivalent Sten box out there.
i've had some thoughts about the mp44 for a blowback mod and see no real difficulty in the job but i would advise new gears and replace the piston with a more robust one, if you are in no hurry then its on my list of thing's to do.
the sten on the other hand has a bit more of a space issue and i cant see a way of making a satisfactory mod especially as it also needs a fake spring adding as well, the fake spring in the cocking slot makes a huge difference to the look in my opinion.

a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all

I'm in no great hurry. I'm thinking of buing Stg44 in 2-3 months and not sure yet about the Sten. I'm torn between Mk. 2 and Mk. V. If I get the V I will not want the gearbox to die fast as the gun is fairly expensive.

the stg44 is the best bet as it takes a bog standard ver2 gearbox so if it breaks then it's no big deal.plus there is bags of room internally, it may well be possible to fit a g+g blowback gearbox straight in ,the g+g would be a good choice as they use a pneumatic blowback not mechanical so there is less possibility of damage.

Sten aeg with blowback is not so easy to do due to lack of space inside tube. As for gearbox made by agm, so far its ok. Am using one with m120 around 430 fps and no sign of wear. But this gearbox is perfectly prepared, sorbo pads etc.

Get V but proper one. Probably coming soon.
As for the blowback i had in few toys. Galil, AK and somthing else. Well its just fun nothing more. But fun ends quckly. In airsoft you need performance. With super high rof, blowback is goin crazy. Plus if piston stops somewhere in the middle of cycle yours bolt will also stops somewhere in the middle. Silly.

The only one I know of is Shoot and Scoot. But it costs twice the money Mk. II does.

I honestly don't care one bit about ROF. Ideally I'd like ROF exactly as the original weapon, but I can easily take lower one. I consider hi-caps to be the greatest fun killers on the field and high ROF with its ability to empty a low-cap clip in a second for me is a problem rather than an advantage.

converting stg44 mag's to mid caps is easy as well, i put a link up on here a while ago about how to do it.
