Pretty straight forward, what works? I have been looking at a COMBRO cb-625 mk4 CHRONOSCOPE, does anyone have any experience of them?

The model I got was an ACM Speeder 558 which apparently is a direct copy of the Guarder Speeder.

It's quite cheap and very easy to use.
It can be switched to display either feet per second, metres per second, or joules (energy).
No mucking around with bb weights*, for the energy readout it just assumes the bb is 0.1g so all you do is multiply by the weight* of your bbs (for 0.2g just multiply by 2).
It has a threaded mount underneath for tripod mounting (not tested).
I have also come to the tentative conclusion that it is reasonably accurate, see this thread - viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4607
You will need to order a two pin charger adapter though.
* Pedants should insert the word "mass" in place of "weight"
Don't bother with a Combro, they break rather easily. Guarder 2008 model Chrony is ok - 2007 version had *major* flaws - best of the bunch so far (this side of a Skan) is the Madbull one. Plus side of the Madbull over the Guarder (and its copies) is the fact that it uses a PP3 9v battery, where the Guarder is rechargeable - and as we all know, rechargeable batteries tend to lose power just when you need them and are away from anywhere you can recharge the internal power pack!

Yes, they break... but the manufacturer will repair them for free... at least they did with mine.
Just be careful with 'em.
Buy them direct from the guys in the UK...

Mine has been broken once, repaired and works fine.. I've had it for about 3 years now.
If I was expecting regular usage from one I'd get a more sturdy one, but for what I use it for, basic tests after occasional maintenance, its fine..

Am going through the process of getting on of these second hand for £25. They're good and accurate enough for the price then, eh?

I've had a Combro for about 5 years now and its still working perfectly. It can be a pain to use with some guns as you have to get it lined up dead centre to the bore, but I havn't found a gun I couldn't chrono with it yet. Treat it with care and it will do the job just fine.
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

Yeah... I wouldn't recommend them to site owners.. but for players the combro's are probably good enough.
