As you may know, I'm putting together a Italian Bersaglieri impression, and well I was lacking a M38 bayonet to go with it as they go generally for £100 - 200 in reasonable condition. Plus the fact I won't/cant run around the airsoft field with a bloody great knife hanging around my nether regions so I decided to make one, nothing special, just something to fill a gap that looks decent when you dont look at it and isn't resin as I don't have the patients!

M38 Bayonet

First I cut the scabbard shape out of some soft wood, shaped and then sanding with varying grits of sandpaper;

Then I cut out a handle shape in mild steel, then made wooden grips to suit;

Sanded the grips in a similar way to the scabbard, shapped it to allow room for extra metal bits;

Then painted a few times with a decent under coat, stained the wood and painted the metal to stop the corrosion, though I may remove the black on the handle at a later date and just spray a clear coat on the bare metal. Then popped it in, e finito ;
