I actually think having the MGs spitting heavy, hard BBs is great; well terrifying, but in the best way possible. Helps the suspension of belief no end.

And if used would have made you combat effective for all of two minutes
Come on you of all peopel should know the difference between statisitcs and *effective* fire.
I worked out once (not hard i know) that with the 'paper strength' magged up ammo we carried we'd have enough ammo for 12 minutes rapid fire (assuming we didnt have to go auto for an assault) and 36 minutes at deliberate rate of fire.
How much ammo does a 2 man Mg team carry, well looking at a *laden* pair i've seen five boxes between them.
Thats less than five mins fire at that rate and thats the most overloaded team i've seen, the guy had three 1000 round boxes strapped to his back and one in each hand and about 50 round son the weapon.

You also have to remember that in the SF role you have to change the barrel every 400 rounds.
