Isn't there a way to lock the M14's own selector?

Locking to semi only is equal to suicide. Don't even think on doing that. If you want realism, remove or saw of selector switch so it doesn't see, but NEVER lock it on semi only. The main problem is that sometimes AEGs can jam on single fire and there is no other way to unjam it unless firing a shot on full auto. If your battery is low it can happen even easier. The only other way to fix that is to diassemble the gun.

Real Sword Dragunov (which costs sh*t lots of money) is single fire only and it is a major pain in the a** to fix the jam. They had to produce the unjamming tool so it can be easier to fix.

Why not just put an inline pressure switch in that you only use for clearing the gun jams then - secrete it somewhere it's not going to be accidentally "pressured".

Exactly what STAR/ARES did with their SLR. There is a microswitch hidden behind the mag well. Press it and it feeds power straight to the motor giving full auto to clear the jam.

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

If and when you discover how to shorten the mags to G43 length please post as I have been researching this for some time and have not really found the answer.

The selector on the M14 is fastened with two screws - remove these, and the selector comes off, baring half of the plastic selector arm that runs around the back of the gearbox. Once this is done, unscrew the plate covering the electrical parts on the left side of the gearbox so you can remove the plastic selector arm completely, then reattach the electronic bits and the plate covering them. Congratulations, your M14 now only shoots semi auto.

Beware that the two little springs on the electronic bits will fly everywhere if allowed, and they're both tiny and vital for the correct function of your gun.

This doesn't lock your gun in SA, but it removes the possibility of switching to FA without removing the stock. Should the need arise, you can manually push the lever on the electronic bits to make it shoot full auto.

Final note: Anyone experiencing trouble with semi-auto jamming should get a proper battery before trying much else. I run my M14 on SA only, on an 8.4v 4000mAh battery, and have no problems whatsoever. If your gun shoots full auto while set on SA, you're a lot worse off - I've seen this happen with several AGM M14s.
