i was holding out for one of these for ages after convincing myself that the ares wasnt worth the effort ,even though i hadnt seen the ares in real life it was just the mag idea that was off putting.
i visited a store last week that had the ares and the ics (though not yet for sale) and it took me less than 30secs to pick the ares ,true the battery mags a pain but the finnish is excellent with its genuine welded steel body and correct colour finnish.
plus redwolf are doing the mag set which comes with three mags and four lipos for a very good price
Wow cant believe fire support have it before some of the other sea retailers like Red Wolf, WGC, Uncompany etc but thats good news for them! Going to double check the other UK retailers first but looks like fire support have got my money! The only thing which put me off the ARES model is lack of spare parts but when ICS did one of there inital press releases it stated that it would use current gear sets etc. Il order one and do a review!
Any body know if they will be doing midcap mags for this. Like the Stg44 the hi caps just put me right off getting one
Armoury: AGM MP40, AGM Sten MkII, K98K/vsr and Maruzen P38.
the finnish is better than the ics ,and much more like the real gun with its steell phosphated body and genuine welds.
if you dissasemble the ares even the internals as in the blow back assembly is copied from the real gun.
i would say the ares was copied direct from real steel and not a photo, even if the later addition of a cocking handle is incorrect for this model which is a m3a1
Have ordered mine today from FS with 3 additional highcap mags! Mainly to kill all these modern day airsofters! Or for the dirty dozen game were all the grease guns seemed to have infinte ammo! (honestly did you ever see anyone reload?)
The other post on the forum about the ICS Grease Gun had a pictorial of what battery to use. It was an ICS 9.6v 1500 Crane Stock battery. Fire Support tried to fit one in for a test and could not get it to fit BUT there are apparently 2 types one has a short wire followed by connector the other is a longer type of wire followed by connector. The longer wired version one should work but just something to look out for! The picture of the one below is the one which was 2 short. Will head to Airsoft Armoury (as its my local) to see what they have. Going shooting on Sunday at Xsite the outpost so hope to try it there!
Cheers

For those thinking of purchasing an Ares or for some info and photos, Actionhobbies have them in. http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/Ares-M3- ... AZBNP.aspx
Stu, it will be interesting to see your ics and compare it to my ares m3. Personally I love mine. It just feels right. Looks spot on as well.
Just got in from work today and its the ONE day parcel force didnt leave my package at a neighbours! Will pick it up from the post office first thing then heading to airsoft armoury to see if i can buy a battery to fit!
I have held the Ares M3A1 (1st version) and was very impressed with it. Hopefully i will have the same feeling when holding mine. Will try and get a review together ASAP also!

I have to say the Aries looks good but I like the ICS mag and bat system.
If I had the time it would be a Aries conversion for me.
Either will look good for the Dirty Dozen game
