a little thing really ,the front sight ,should it have the shroud or not,looking at a lot of footage even parade shots you almost never see the shroud.were they never issued or lost and never replaced.my understanding of military matters was that if you lost a bit of you'r rifle you would be in trouble and certainly would never be seen in a bit of Nazi propaganda film with it missing .i also noticed that at games i never see them and until now i just guessed they were lost.so what's correct?

Got one on my K98 but, they are very easy to knock off, which is why there are so many missing on photographs. So, either is correct.
