Hello chaps, need some advice here, have used the search function on lanyards and come up with some threads but cant seem to find anything about what type, colour, where to get one from etc??
Any help here would be good inc links to any for sale? I have just bought a P37 from shellshokt for my TM1911 and would like a suitable lanyard to go with it

cheers in advance :good:

Pistol lanyards were a plain buff colour. SOF do them for £12.

Pleated coloured regimental lanyards are much shorter and weren't attached to pistols. Once you find out the right colour for the unit you want to portray it's just a case of hunting around for a repro

I looked on there earlier. The only ones I saw were nylon, or more recent ones.

The biggest problem, though is that the standard British ones were made for a gun with a ring on the bottom. The 1911's "staple" isn't really big enough, so you'll need a clip of some kind. I found a simple metal clip I could fit to mine.

There is at least one Browning HP one on Ebay that has a clip, but I think that's a more recent type.

I don't know if any of the period American ones would have been used with 1911s in British service.

Or get a split ring from B&Q and attach the lanyard via that.

:giggle: "split ring"

I think that's a whistle lanyard, but I'm not sure.
