I want to replace my 8.4v mini and stick batteries with lipos as they're getting more than a little old and tired. How do I work out which is the right (equivalent) lipo battery?
Both the guns in question still have fuses so I'm not thinking they'll blow up but I want the right ones ![]()

we have semi only here and lipos helps stop trigger jams and greatly improve trigger response.
Does it? Now that's interesting! Why?
I did notice that there were no jams on my M1 Garand when I used a lipo with it at the last open day... or more accurately Webby did.

Possibly because the extra power ramps-up the motor speed more rapidly, and "jolts" a sticky motor. Though it might also have to do with whatever is restricting the guns to semi.

TBH Yith, I did find the lag between trigger pull and shot fired seemed better, maybe only by a fraction of a second, not Systema PTW quick, but noticable.

Can someone point me at an idiot proof charger? I need one that I can plug the batteries into then go to bed safe in the knowledge that the house won't burn down.
Is this one: http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/body_acc6.html ??

Certainly looks like it's up to the job! I'm giving serious consideration to binning my NiMh's and switching to to LiPo's in all of my guns (rather than just the Sten and M1 carbine). If only for simplicitys' sake!

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
"the rules of LiPo"
1: Never EVER put them on to charge then just sod off. Keep an eye on 'em
2: Use a LiPo charging sack. If the wost does happen, it'll contain the fire and stop it spreading
I can't be arsed to go into C ratings at the moment - i'll save that for when i'm not pissed - but suffice it to say that they are important. A low C rated 11.1v pack will be outperformed by a high C rated 7.4v pack. It's all down to discharge capability.

Also the lined charging bag is a good buy!

Can someone post a link to a good charger? The 'best' one on Component Shop doesn't seem to come with a power adapter or connectors for mini Tamiya batteries, despite all their lipos coming with these.

Core RC UDC-30 is my current fav. Yes, it needs an external power brick, but its a bloody good charger ![]()

Google "modelpower" as well, they sell extension leads for the balancer - otherwise you end up with the LiPo jammed right against the charger when you're juicing it up (with the extension leads you can safely stick yor LiPo packs in a fire retardant pouch a decent distance away from the charger itself)
**edit** The UDC-30 (and the UDC-20, for that matter) come with pretty much every damn power connector you've ever seen...

Has anyone actually done a moron's guide to Lipo's yet?
Speaking as a moron, I'd like to see one. ![]()
Yeah, I have done. I'll see if I can find the text later today and post it up.
