Hi, I'm new to this game so bear with me. I'd really like to buy an M-1 carbine but the only ones I've seen are the late ww2/poswar models with the long mag and bayonet lug. Does anyone make an early/mid war type with the short mag and no bayonet lug or are short mags available anywhere and I could remove the bayonet lug myself. Thanks folks.

The ones you've seen are actually, I believe, M2 carbines.
Marushin did do an M1 carbine with the short mag, both in 8mm and 6mm, but without blowback. These however did still have the issue of being post war spec. Also the mags are not compatible between the different types.
I have one of these Marushin M1 carbines in 8mm and have replaced the bayonet lug and sights with the correct type. The parts sold to fix the many deacs with the incorrect parts do fit the marushin, though not perfectly.
Note though, that none of these Marushin M1 carbines are really up to being skirmished with. My M1 is unreliable and either too weak on HFC134a or too powerful on green/propane.
So my M1 is primary used for re-enacting rather than airsoft, where it looks pretty reasonable.
