what needs to be done to the carbine?
there is not too much left to do on it.
the upper and lower receivers need to be fixed together
trigger has been made but needs attaching
triggerguard needs to be made
a microswitch needs to be fitted at the rear of the receiver for contact with the trigger
mag catch is made and works fine just need a small plate/screw fitted to secure it
wiring needs doing but should be simple enough, there is room inside the front of the stock for battery
but will need a mosfet for semi firing.
it is original stock with buttplate, barrel band, front sight (already fitted to outer barrel),and comes with two original m1 mags, one has been fitted with mp7 internals.

PM'd you Jay

I thought I may as well continue this thread than start a new one. It was me who bought the M1 off Jay and I've been working on it since I got it, just for something to do. I'm not really a carbine kind of bloke and I may just sell it on when I finish it. I'll get some pictures up once I get a new digicam lead (the dog chewed the end of the old one!).
So far, I've fitted the trigger, mosfet and hollowed out the front of the stock a bit to take a LiPo battery. There was no room for a conventional microswitch for the trigger contact, so I used the pressure switch from an electric drum magazine, which gives the added benefit of a very short trigger pull. I've had the gun firing but the fps is not very good and I suspect that's down to an airleak around the mag/hopup. Jay was good enough to send me a spare gearbox and I may try that as well. I've also fashioned a trigger guard from and old VSR one, just need to figure a way to fit it now. I've also got 3 more magazine shells and am awaiting MP7 internals for them.
It will definitely fit into a folding stock anyway! Progress is a bit slow, because I'm working in a freezing cold garage!

Nice one chap!
Expressed interest with Jay but didnt have the skills to finish it off! If you consider selling it Pete I'll take it for a good price ![]()

Interest noted Matt. To be honest, Jay had done all of the hard work, I'm just putting it all together.
I'm bidding on Ebay for a rear recoil plate, the bit a bolt goes through to hold it all in the receiver, once I get that, I can secure it all into the stock. Then aside from the usual custom gun hop/feed issues, there won't be much to do to it. I even bought some of that aluminium gun bluing stuff and might have a bash at that later on.

Hehe! Cool!
Do you think there would be said recoil plate is a normal stock? I have one spare that I never got around to making an AEG into.

It's a "standard" part on the M1.

ah yeah, on my marushin ones thats a moulded part of the receiver ![]()

Ebay. It cost less than a tenner. I've had mixed results with it so far to be honest but, it's better than painting it.
Work has stalled on the M1 for now, as I was having trouble getting it to feed reliably and am waiting for warmer weather before going into the garage to sort it out. I did manage to construct a reliable trigger mechanism and fit the mosfet and a lipo battery in the front end of the stock, so, not all bad news!

Any pics of anything blued with it? I've fancied trying the stuff for a while but I've been unsure of the finish quality.
The quality of the finish depends on how clean you get the aluminium before application (I found that out the hard way!). If it's not spotless and completely grease free, it will be a blotchy result.
I would post up pictures but, the dog chewed the pc lead for my camera and I'm still waiting for the new one to arrive.

Sweet, I'll get to try out my ultrasonic cleaner. Is it a particular brand you use.
Got it feeding and firing nicely now
. Just needs the the trigger microswitch attaching and wired up and then final assembly.
I'm looking to sell it, as I've just purchased a VERY expensive book and need to cover my tracks before the wife finds out!

sent you a PM.
