Drilling out the barrel will take some doing.
I have a lathe, and had to make a Thompson barrel in 3 parts because I can't drill deep enough, and that's nowhere near as long as a Garand barrel.
It'll need a gunsmith to do it - one who has a large enough gun drill (a special drill system for boring barrels).
The bore for a 9mm, 38 special, or .357 might do for the airsoft barrel.
If it's a well-used barrel it'll be work-hardened to some extent too.

Hi, wouldn't a lipo battery fit in the stock with the motor? Or diverted it (a lipo) to sit else where?
really sorry to hear about the setback,ive had those sit and stare at the broken dream moments and they are gut wrenching.get back on the horse and keep going,i liked the remote motor idea,surely a small lipo battery up front under the barrel is possible?

i thought about doing a dboys k98 that way ,adding a nozzle to the front of the bolt and fitting a clip in the hole the shells sit in,then i had a look at the dboys k98 in the flesh and binned the idea in favour of a vsr/dboys conversion as a better idea.i spent 3 days milling out an ally top slide for a glock aep ,it was beautiful but while milling out the inside at about 9/10s done i took a little bit too big a cut and the whole thing just mashed up... 3 days work 
so i know how you feel.
