I am quite new to ww2 airsofting. I have however handled several real steel rifles and I particularly liked the m1 carbine (although I didnt get to fire it). I have very little in the way of cash but I do have a cyma m14 which I am not using. I was hoping there was a way to convert it to an m1 carbine. I was hoping someone might have tried this sort of thing before and could give some advice.

The M14 is closer to the M1 Garand (in terms of conversions), but I'm sure you know that.

If you are looking for an M1 Carbine to act as "donor" gun (for external parts), you can look at Evike.com - they have cheap, $50 M1 Carbine springers in stock that could (possibly) be converted into an AEG with some effort.

As the gun is full metal other than the stock i would like to make a nice job of it and make any parts I need out of metal and wood.

also although it would be easier to convert to m1 garand I prefer the carbine and feel they are under represented.

there was a chap on the U.S ww2 forum who did a m14 to carbine conversion. Wasn't 100% correct but looked ok.

Best of luck.

thanks for the help everyone. I have decided to save up a bit of money and buy an original m1 stock to use.

Apart from a small mishap with the sling, I think that this guy got away with it quite nicely. I am going make one just like it, and will pick up a second hand cyma M14 in the weekend if everything goes right. I wonder why months are always longer than monthly wages....

I know ICS has come out with a M1 Garand, but when everything is added up, it doesn't complete money-wise with the shown solution, I think, especially when buildt on a second hand M14.
