Hey all !

Having just procured an M2 carbine, and having an M1A1 stock, I was wondering if anyone has tried such a conversion, and if so, what difficulties they had and if there were any available photos.
Im struggling to find a method of getting the excess wood out from the inside of the paratroopers stock, so does anyone have a good method of doing this, as it is quite a tight space ?

Regards,

Euan

I converted a MP40 to a MP41 using an old air rifle stock. I used a rubber mallet and a very sharp chisel to make room for the gearbox and motor taking my time to ensure I didn't mess it up.

There is/was a good write up on fitting one of the old M1 carbines into a M1A1 stock and I'm sure I read somewhere that doing it with the newer gbb M1/M2s was even easier, I'll have a look tonight to see if I've got a copy of the instructions or if I can find the original site where I found them.

As to whats best for removing excess wood, small chisels and wood files but best of all a dremel, the key thing to have is patience otherwise you'll bugger it up like I did

BSA Meteor I think the stock was off as it is quite small but perfect for a MP41 conversion.

Dremels are good. But for neatness a chisel is best.

However some areas are not appropriate for a chisel... and also be careful you don't half cut your finger off like I did... well ok, not half, but it was a trip to A&E and I do have a numb area on my finger now. (Which is the reason why I'm never selling my SMLE... I was scarred during the making of that gun!)

Guiness did a conversion a long time ago with a M1 carbine to para version here is the link to it below.

Pictures are not working though :(

The guiness guide mentions something about sawing bits off the end of the receiver.

I remember someone on here (Webby maybe?) saying that this isnt neccesary and it will fit without the need to take a saw to it.

This way you can always revert back to the full stock if you get fed up with airborne.
