Ok people, after scratching my head for a while and trying to figure out how to adapt the M47 shotty mags to fit in the Grand conversions I came up with this idea :good:

these are the M47 shotty mags, readily available and very cheap!

I used an old M14 mid-cap I was given from a friend and set about making a magwell converter for these mags,

I just took the mag apart and cut the top inner out off to give me the piece that will 'click' into the garand magwell

removed the bb holding catch and spring as this wont be needed, and then used a piece of plastic tubing glued into the mag clip as I call it,
then removed the round lip from the shotty mag, putting the 2 together I then worked out how much to take off the plastic on the mag clip so I get a nice flush fit between the two while it pushes the bb holder back on the shotty mag :good: then it was a case of using miliput to fill all the holes in :)

it was then a case of cutting the M14 metal mag case to a size for the shotty mags to slot into

I found that the clips on the side of the shotty mags hold inside the adapter very well :good: and dont need anything to hold them in :D
if they do start coming loose in time then I will use the dremel and make some slots so the shotty mags clip in nicely :good:

up to now I'm very happy with this compromise, yes they do stick out a bit of the garand but far better than using M14 mags, as a bonus, the shotty mags also fit the garand belts :D

sneak preview of my Garand  more pics coming soon :good:
AZR M1 Garand kit & AGM M14 donor gun

decided to make and fit a stacking swivel that was missing on the AZR kit

well I hope this helps a lot of people looking for the elusive Garand mags that are getting harder to find or ridiculous delivery prices when we find them :good: I think up to now that this is a good compromise, also the adapter can easily be removed to take normal M14 mags :D

any feed back would be great :D
