I'm going to start making a Maxim 1910 HMG for the up-coming Russian Front game and Training Day. I'll be using an AK74 for the guts of this thing with an upgraded M140 spring and 9.6 v battery to give it some ommphhh

Just wondering if anyone has got any links or info on the diamentions, ie, wheel diameter, length and width of the shield ect, any help would be greatly appreciated

Chris

Er, id check what the FPS limits are for the site. An M140 will give you anything up to 490 FPS (in an optimised system)

Regarding research, google "motorbooks", they are the BEST UK shop for buying military books, and given how specialised they are, you're quite likely to find a tome devoted to this one MG.

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

A 140 spring will almost certainly take it over pretty much any site limit in the UK...

Other than that.. cool! :)

I stuck a M130 into a M16 & got 449 fps! I had to remove 3 1/2 coils before it got under 350 fps, also in its origional state ther motor went very slow, a systema M100 with a AK barrel length should give about 350fps,

Sorry, forgot to say, the Vickers - being an optimised, and vastly improved version of the original maxims- share the same main dimentions as the Maxim except for the Maxim has a deeper reciever (about 2" deeper) and feed-blocks which weren't as prominent from either side, as compared to a Vickers.

EDIT: Sorry, also forgot to say that I've got some blueprints of the external measurements of a Vickers which I used when I created my airsoft Vickers, which you could scale up and work from. I'll see if I can find them out.

Thanks McVickers, but why don't you build your own trolly and get some Russian gear and we'll have two Maxims?

Here you go. It's of an aircraft version, but the dimensions are pretty much the same, just don't bother about the air vents or the extra long handle!
