Give me the name of the guy that supplied the faulty leds and I'll get a hit team from the far east station to pay him a visit. 8)

milled the new slots in the inner barrel to tern it through 90 degrees , made up a hop arm ,milled a slot for the hop arm to go in ,drilled a hole in the side for the hop feed tube to line up with the magazine.have yet to mount the hop and secure the gearbox so that's next ,then cut the outer barrel to length and we'r on for some testing of the muzzle flash system.
view from the top over the gearbox and hop

view of side hole for hop feed from gearbox.

slow going but i got a little more done, securing the gearbox and hop are next so i started on the gearbox, now the bottom of the gearbox sits in a channel quite securely so its just a matter of securing the top,to do this i have made another channel that sits over the top, this top one will be part of the feed tray when finished, pivoted at the front at the trunnion as it should and be locked in place by the top cover at the rear.the feed tray will also have the magazine fittings as per the real thing as well, that part i have also made already and now i just need to make up the pivot arms and link it all up prettily.

not finished and pretty yet but it works, there's loads more to do cosmetically but its all fitting and holds the mag and gearbox firmly in place.the only bit you will see when finished is going to be the magazine capture fitting's .it also has the nice side affect of making maintenance easier although it will still be a bit of a pain as the motor and cage will have to be removed to remove the gearbox, that in tern means the pistol grip will have to be removable as well but i think the benefits out-way the extra hassle as the gearbox is very secure so it will have good consistency when fired.

right ,tidy'd up and pretty'd the feed tray, mounted the hop and finished the adjuster, cut the outer barrel to length, finished the booster cone assembly and blued it ,finally revised my plan to have the feed tray be secured by the top cover and fitted a bracket and screw.
At this point all the fiddly super accurate work is done ,from here its all cosmetic's, oh except the drum magazine internals .
the hop adjust is through a hole in the feed tray with an Allen key ,may make up a tool to keep under the feed tray so that field adjustment doesn't meen fumbling for a lost Allen key .there is plenty of space for a battery under the top cover for either a NMH or lipo .

hole for hop

side feed for hop is just under feed tray

had it firing today from the magazine for the first time, nice rate of fire and consistently in the 350fps zone.to build up the magazine i removed the gut's of an m4 flash mag (pull cord wind hi-cap), cut the top off it and terned it through 45 degrees and re-attached it then welded a small bracket into the drum mag for a securing screw for the hop feed part of the mag, drilled a hole for the pull cord and made up hopper for the bb's out of plasticard. i think the hopper holds between 800 to 1000 rnds, will have to fill it then weigh up the bb's and do the math as i'm not counting that many i'd go blind :?

not sure yet weather to fill the drum through the door or from the belt hatch, as yet both can be used but i'm leaning toward the door and just blocking off the belt hatch to stop em escaping ,it wont be visible if it's blocked anyway.

that bl'$%dy green paint on the drum mag has a tenacious grip :!: and nitromors paint stripper has gone all girly and safe, i got a spot on my skin and it never even burnt me :ghey: , another good product bit the dust  , i had to use a wire wheel on a drill to remove the paint but it is finally done and re painted a nice shade of satin black.
also fitted the rear sight and made up the pins for the feed tray/top cover and the trunion end,oh and painted the feed tray.
have to decide on finish soon for the main part of the gun, the zib has been parkerised and i just can't replicate that and there are various area's where the finish has been ground off or are just a bit rusty so i can't just leave it :? .

just had a bit of a brainstorm ,i was going to use voltage regulators and resistors to give all the voltages i need ,that is 3v for the flashing led's ,7.2v for the smoke generator ,both coming from the main battery, then i realised that if i run it of lipo's then i can take feeds from the balance charging plug, each cell is 3.7v,perfect for the diodes with maybe just a small resistor, then use 2 cell's for 7.4v for the smoke generator with no messing about with anything complicated at all, and it will be 100% reliable :happydance: .

Excellent. it's coming along nicely. I got some new 100W speakers yesterday as well as a 7Ah 12V battery. The bluetooth kits arrived in the post just the other day so tomorrow I will rig up the sound system for a test run. Please make sure the leads from the trigger micro switch are long enough to leave all options open re locating the BT transmitter. It occurred to me that if it is buried inside the the body of the MG the signal may be interfered with.

Lovely work, :good:
Steve.

no problem, there's loads of space in the drum under the working parts and the metal is thinner there, although still pretty enclosed, not too sure that's good for radio transmitting.i guess there is no separate areal , worst comes to the worst it could be tucked under between the drum and gun body, it would not be visible there and would not be enclosed.
