Since I started WW2 Airsoft (was it really only 5 months ago?) I have wanted a MG 42/34. Having failed to buy Kermits, I was looking at the Zib42 conversion. Then Rifleman6925 (Tony) posted his excellant alluminium build for the MG34.
Now sadly I have very limited engineering ability, lack the tools and very limited knowledge of airsoft internals but figure that it will be a learning experience.
Its not going to be precise or accurate but along as it fires like a support weapon, is recognisable as an MG34 and doesnt fall apart first time I skirmish with it then I will be happy.
Pictures so far:
looking good
Nice! What's it made from?
Its made using 1 1/2" aluminium tube and 2" box sections + anything I've got lying around, basically I'm trying to copy Rifleman 6925 build.
The bipod is a post war one I got on Ebay.
Next to do are the front and rear sights and other barrel fittings.
Go for it, mate.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Looks great.. Is there any chance you could post a few more detailed pictures of the 2" box/ reciever and how you have fashioned it..
Thats if you get a moment, as I'm sure your available free time is accounted for with the build.. Likewise how you have connected the bi-pod..
Regards Chris

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......

Looking good mate, dont hesitate to ask for anymore info, I am more than happy to help
Thanks guys
I will try and post some more pics later in the week, been busy today doing accounts and tax return today
I've not fixed the bipod on properly yet, its just held on with a self tapper, hoping to see on someone else's gun first to see how it should be done.
I'm planning on fitting a version 3 gearbox and motor, not sure which barrel or hop to use yet, Ive been on the net looking at some, may have to have these as Xmas presents, depends on how money goes
I havent a clue how to feed the bb's from the mag, so thanks Tony I will be in touch
More progress, front sight, AA sight mount, rear sight, feeder chamber lid and drum mag. Finishing still needed to these parts though.
MG34 now ready for use (but not finished).
Fitted the gearbox and motor today and fired a couple of thousand rounds through it to try it out, all seems to be working fine, used the internals from a PPSH mag in the drum (cheers Boshman ) seems to work well can fire around 150-200 rounds before it needs winding.
The weekend after next hope to take it up to the firing range at Anzio to get a feel for the range and try the hop.
Some things Im not happy with:
1) Ive scaled the front sight wrong, its way to big, will remove and redo when I get the chance. Unfortunately that means redoing the rear site to match.
2) The rear of the feeder chamber needs grinding in at a more distinct angle, I've rounded it to much.
3) The bipod is only screwed on, would be nice to make something more accurate.
4) Needs a bit of fine finishing in places when I get the chance.
Overall though quite happy with it, I have acheived my original objective of making something that looks like a MG34 and fires like a support weapon. Unfortunately I lack the craftsmanship and tools to produce a work of art but it feels good to finally have a machine gun, roll on Sevastopal
looking good
thats really well done, there's a bit of an art to knowing when to stop and say its finished, there'l allways be something you'r not happy with but its probably something only you will ever know.i look forward to sevastopol so i can see it in the flesh

will be starting a look-a-like one in the next few months, on the look out now for an AK double C mag
picked the donor gun up for £40
Bloody hell Tim (?) you've done a great job on that!
