Dadio is doing a great thread on what you can do with the budget SnS No. 4 kit, but for the less mechanically skilled, you can always buy one ready built! I recently acquired one of the new budget Sn No. 4s as a replacement for my old non-budget SnS No.4. The latter was a beautiful rifle and its various previous owners had upgraded it in various ways (Teflon cylinder, woo!) but I never really got on with the APS2 mechanism and the magazine feed. I am a lot happier with a VSR based gun as despite my general cack handedness with airsoft guns, I have actually managed to take my VSR based K98 to bits, swap parts out etc.
So, one deal with Warren later, a shiny new No. 4 arrived.
As you can see, it looks pretty much like a No. 4. The stock is made of decent wood and stained a dark brown colour, not as red as my old rifle but well within the colour variation seen on real rifles.
The end of the barrel is slightly longer than on my old one, but my rubber spike bayonet still fits fine.
The front barrel band looks original.

The breech. You can see here why it is a bit more budget than the older rifles. The bolt sits further forward than on a real one, and the brass top casting doesn't quite fill the original bolt cover. I will probably make a cover for this at some point, but you really don't notice it from a foot or two away. I like the way the trigger sits in the trigger guard and the the sights seem to be aligned fine so the BBs go where you actually aim it.
The butt plate, economy steel. Easy enough to replace with a brass one should you be so inclined.
The magwell, quite far forward of the original magazine as is common in VSR conversions. It is also cut quite deep and the magazines are a very snug fit, however with the provided finger recesses I haven't had any problems getting magazines in and out and they seem to feed fine although I've not exactly put hundreds of rounds through it yet 
The donor gun takes slightly shorter maagzines than standard VSR ones, so if you are fitting a different donor gun, there is plenty of room to cut the stock back a bit more to take longer magazines.

The breech from the rear, you can see the bolt, simulated safety and the flip sight. You can also see how the cover fits over the top of the original breech.
Bolt extended, you have to pull the bolt round quite a long way, but the action is very smooth and with a 350fps spring, very easy to cock.
Gun seems to work fine, I put a couple of magazines of 0.3s through it and to shoots as well as my TM VSR based K98. How resiliant it will be in the long run, who knows, but I'm not going to putting thousands of rounds through it. The hop adjustment is in a slot on the left hand side, nice to be able to access it without taking the gun to bits!
So, overall I'm very pleased with it. The only thing I've done so far is re-oil the stock as it seemed a bit dry. The only slightly annoyance was a sticky label on the breech which left some residue when I took it off. I'll get some label remover on it in a bit.

I don't think so, but I can't imagine it would be very exciting. It is only a springer VSR at the end of the day.
Had more of a plink with it this afternoon and set it up for 0.25s, seems to have a decent range and is reasonably accurate but I need to try it give it a decent go out in the field as there is a limit to what I can do shooting at the trees at the end of the garden.

i've see one and they are quite robust , no need to worry about breaking it, may not be as solid as a real gun but plenty good enough.the wood is all one piece and the internals of the breech are thick alloy and very strong .

The varmit has no out of the box upgrades, you can do some but it involves milling or being skilled with the dremel.

I'm curious too. It's a lot to shell out on so would like to know what I'm getting. Any going to the game down at Ford on the 3rd? Maybe a chance to see one in the flesh.
Can't say too much about the performance, 0.25g were too light for it, overhopped so that aiming was impossible. Though should've seen that coming

the hop is adjustable,
forward is down
back is up hop,
i would recomend if the hop lever arm is stiff to remove back top wood to fine tune, .2g -2.5g for sub 350 fps
i use .25g bb in mine that doing sub 400fps
i,v been using my personal L42 for 18 months now and the power has dropped a little from 400 to 385 ish,
no problems at all,
wood work like an oil from time to time as per real steal,
very pleased with the base rifle,
