Hi all
Ive recently aquired a MP40, my son, who knows a bit more about airsoft than myself has advised that I should upgrade the battery to a Lipo to improve performance, he warned however that this may cause excessive wear.
Are the Lipo's worth it and will this cause damage to the gun?
I tried searching the forums but couldn't find anything specific.
Thanks
I've used my MP40 for four years with a normal battery - never had any problems, never run out of juice - not even with an 1100mA one.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Yeah, I'm not sure what your 'increased performance' criteria is but changing to LiPo is pretty much limited, in any meaningful way, to rate of fire. Emptying your mag quicker.
IMHO an ordinary 8.4v NiMH mini battery is perfect for the job. As Steiner says, 110mAv is fine although I use 140mAh. As long as the brand is good (the anonymous batteries the MP40s are shipped with are rubbish) and you look after them then they will last as long as your MP40 does.
The thing you need to think about is that, unlike your son's M4, your MP40 doesn't have hicaps, and shouldn't really fire 1000rpm...
Thanks chaps
lots of usefull input.
There IS a benefit in taking some time with the battery that your gun came with -
1. Disconnect it and remove it from the gun
2. Carefully place it in a plastic bag.
3. Go to your local tip and chuck it in the recycle bin.
4. Buy a proper 8.4V NiMH battery and charger from Component Shop. If you want the gun to emulate a real MP40 then you don't need a massively high RoF.
This is the only thing I have ever done to my AGM MP40 and it's been fantastic for over 4 years, definitely my favourite weapon.
