I guess I need to get the Tag shell for my panzerfaust now.
Chef what are you going to use as a warhead? Are you going to use the re useable rounds or impact rounds?

The one in the video is the reusable, but I've got some explosive rounds on order (the ones that explode after 3 seconds) like the ones Tim uses in his mountain howitzer

Deal. You need a 2nd man for it anyway, so happy to be it.
Just wonder where we get the Shermans from?
Impressive looking stuff. Not looking forward to being on the wrong end of it though

Having used this in anger for the first time at "Alifie", I was somewhat disappointed that in our mission to destroy three trucks, all targets were hit but none of the TAG Reaper rounds exploded , so I contacted airsoftworld, whose response (from TAG) was...
"The way the Reaper works is that once fired, it sets off an internal 'fuse' that ignites the pyrotechnic charge after 3-4 seconds. However, if the shell impacts before then, the internal striker in the fuse is destroyed stopping the shell from detonating."
So if we hadn't hit them, they might have exploded ! something to bear in mind next time ! Maybe need some Archangel rounds for destroying tanks

Thats quite intresting mate, Like I was saying to you on the day i use the Archangel ones in my bazooka with about a 60% sucess rate so far. (with 1 shell not going off recovered) sounds like the other ones are more of a mortar round to use if they need 3-4 seconds delay before exploding.
ooh stu was it nearly you , that nearly killed me with it lol ?
got one now as well but never got it out lol

Yes mate, it went about 6 foot and just fell out of the air near you. I shouted "short round, short round!" but it didn't go off. Although seeing the fire coming out of your mortar i think you were more dangerous than me

I wonder what Tim uses in the 75mm (or Stut in the Pak 36). I've seen both fired and the shells exploding, but no way was the flight time 3-4 seconds. Perhaps they use the contact ones?
I probably shouldn't have picked up the unexploded rounds then as they are essentially UXBs at that point.
Anyway, it was GREAT FUN to carry and fire, and good that we managed to hit things too.
Cheers

I believe Tim uses the Reaper shells (the ones we used), which is why I chose them, and I did pick up two of the shells we fired, only to worry later whether they would spontaneously explode

Need to think up a way of firing it from the trigger next
Okay finally got round to redesigning the whole things so it can be fired from the trigger, these are the constituent parts of the new design...
This consists of :-
1 x aluminium tube 200x45x1.6mm
1 x aluminium tube 80x90x1.6mm
1 x aluminium tube 25x90x1.6mm
4 x rocket parts - 3D printed in white ABS
1 x rear trigger mechanism - 3D printed in black ABS
3 x M8 coach bolts
6 x M8 square nuts
3 x M4 bolts with nuts
1 x M3 bolt with nut
1 x M2.5 screw
1 x spring from a biro pen
1 x small piece teflon tube
1 x length of thin wire rope
The idea taken from ww2stu's Bazooka, the "rocket" forms a holder for the TAG sabot, which is inserted into the front of the Panzerschreck.
This is locked into place in the trigger mechanism by twisting,. The trigger mechanism is mounted inside the Panzerschreck by some M4 screws. The trigger mechanism has a lever which pushes a screw through on to the TAG sabot and firing it.

This lever is attached to a bowden tube that goes through a hole in the Panzerschreck barrel near the trigger where the wire attaches to the Panzerscheck trigger mechanism.
It all seems to work okay outside the Panzerschreck so the next stage is to mount it inside and see how it operates.
To be continued

Okay, now mounted the mechanism in the barrel of the Panzerschreck and hooked it up to the trigger...
The back plate mounted in the barrel.
The bowden cable connected to the trigger.

The "rocket" now painted up.
The "rocket" inserted in the barrel.
To insert the "rocket" in the front of the barrel, you need to first ensure that the trigger is cocked and the safety is on, otherwise the TAG round will go off as soon as you insert it , then insert and rotate it anti-clockwise until it locates, then push it in and turn anti-clockwise locking it in place. When ready to fire, carefully release the safety and pull the trigger to fire.
So far it seems to fire okay, but I need to do some more test firing to make sure it's reliable, I'll try and get a video up when I do.
If anyone wants the original rear mounted firing mechanism it's free to a good home, or if anyone want's a set of the 3D printed parts, I'd be happy to print another set.

In case you are wondering the TAG round I fired was an old round that had previously failed to explode, but this time it did

Looks fantastic mate, i had to download the video to watch it but you should be really proud of that!
Oh nice. Bring it to the TIM game. I think I have some TAG rounds left over.
How far did it fire?
