I've not even got my first period gun yet (it's in the mail) but already I've got my eye on a potential project.

The Błyskawica of the Polish resistance. A mix of Sten and whatever they had kicking about, a simple gun designed for "mass" production or at the very least ease of production in secret and with limited resources. Did some forum searches and saw it has been mentioned in some game suggestion threads but couldn't see any actual project/making threads about it.

As I'm somewhat of a novice when it comes to airsoft, though I've some experience of kit building, electronics and the like, I was considering just attempting to dress up one of the various avaliable M3 Grease Guns.

The other option ofcourse is going for a more from scratch approach but that would be a much slower process as I would be having to teach myself a lot more about the internals, could end up with a much better result though, and make for a better slow burn project.

The most obvious issue is the space, from what research I've done the various M3 already have all sorts of space issues resulting in a few different battery positions across the companies. The Błyskawica seems probably about the same size as the M3 and Sten but appears to have an even larger gap between the trigger and mag than the Sten, far less than the M3 has.

I suppose the horizontal mag of the Sten might be throwing me a bit here and though the M3 has a more instant Błyskawica shape the Sten if the mag was rotated to vertical would be even closer, though I've no idea how tricky doing that would be.

Sorry for rambling a bit, kinda sketching my own ideas out as I type.

You'd probably be better off using a sten and moving the trigger, I think. You could rotate the magwell so it's vertical (it rotates on the body already!), and use an AK hop unit instead of the sten one.

Yeah I suddenly remembered that the magwell did the "rotate for storage" thing, also the fact that the Sten doesn't come with a normal hand grip means that the grip I'd have to add could be used to house a smallish lipo battery.

Course this planning would happen just days after Rooster sold his Sten with locked gears for 30 quid.

I would second the Sten,

the greasegun you would have trouble apdating any of the current ones on the market to make it look good.

And you could almost get away with using an AK 47 lower receiver which comes with a handgrip which you can install without modification.
