As information on this is currently a little thin on the ground I thought I would put fingers to keyboard:
I took a bit of a gamble on this as our site limits preclude the use of any guns over 360fps but could not resist.....
The rifle arrived as shown. Nicely padded and with the bolt removed. No unnecessary frills or bags of bbs but with an instruction manual that is rubbish. An exploded diagram and sight adjustment information is about all you get.
First impressions are very good. The rifle has a nice weight, is perfectly balanced (balance point is just rear of the side stock pins below the breech) and is creak free. The woodwork is nicely finished in a dark stain that will do nicely for now.
The gaps between parts are also very thin and clean.
(This pic is not the best, as taken on phone in poor lighting, but shows true colour of the stock, unaffected by flash)
I believe this to be a copy of the Tanaka range of but can't confirm compatibility of mags etc just yet. On the subject of mags, the magazine holds 10 bbs and plenty of gas (They are listed as 11 rnd mags, but it is not possible to do this . I will test this in January to see how many shots I get from a fill of gas, I will also do some accuracy and power testing at the same time.
Filling the mag did not bring any leaks and the fill was achieved without gas spurting from the fill valve. (Propane)
The metal parts are, er... metal and are reasonably well painted/finished. There are some stamped markings that are clean and quite deep.
The cleaning rod and bayonet fixing point is fake and is a one piece moulding.
Mag release within trigger guard:
Hop Adjustment screw:
Now for the interesting bit!
When the gun is fired the trigger releases a hammer that impacts the back of the magazine. This releases gas into a port within the bolt. The gas passes through a nozzle into the breech. Inside the nozzle there is a screw that can be adjusted once an Allen key grub screw has been loosened off.
Allen key visible near the nozzle end of the bolt assembly.
Adjusting the screw inside the bolt will alter the power of the rifle.
(This is accessed through the nozzle! The picture shows the screw undone, giving a fairly consistent 336 fps! It was firing at 410 in a cold garage before being adjusted)
As stated, the manual is pants.
I believe that the magazine should only be inserted/removed when the bolt is open.
The pics below show the bolt being inserted and extracted for transport.
So far I am very impressed with this gun and can't wait to use it.
Spare mags are currently available in Green gas or CO2 form. I went with the gas versions.
Not meant to be a review as I have yet to fire this thing in anger, but if you need any further info just holler.
Added below are the results of a chrono' test:
I added some Froglube to the bolt as the gun is quite dry out of the box.
As I now have two mags, I loaded and fired both a couple of times just to exercise the valves before testing.
I should also point out that although the mags are described as 11rnds. you can't get 11 in.
10 bbs is the max that will fit but they do so with ease and do not have to be wedged in.
So, I did a low power test with two mags, firstly with 0.2g bbs and then repeated with 0.25g bbs.
The internal thread within the bolt was closed off as much as possible.
Each test was carried out with a fresh fill of propane.
The garage was about 8C.
The HOP was fully OFF for all tests.
The figures show the actual results, then the max/min and average for each set then the deviations around the average and finally the max deviation.
At low power it is clear that there is quite a lot of variation between shots. How this will effect accuracy is yet to be determined. There is also a marked difference between the two magazines particularly when using 0.2g bbs. The average difference shown in brackets.
The tests were then repeated under the same conditions but with the bolt screw fully open:
With the bolt screw fully open, the power increases and consistency is improved. It is also clear that at higher power the difference between magazines is improved. (The %dev figures are the deviation expressed as a percentage of the average.)
(I couldn't add a table, so have attached the results as pictures and below as a pdf if you want them.)
Compared to a springer or aeg the results may look shocking, but when compared to my Ares DSR-1 bolt action gas sniper rifle they are remarkably similar. It would seem that gas rifles give better consistency at higher power levels.
Consistency may even be improved with heavier bbs; perhaps .28 or .30 might be better.
I will be setting mine to shoot at sub 350fps with a 0.2gbb, but I will be using 0.25g bbs.
Once I set the hop (In January) I will repeat the tests to see if this has an effect.
Very nice review. I knew a bit about it from the US WWII forum, but I knew nothing about adjustable power. Very nice feature.
Ooh I like the adjustable fps
i'm getting one as soon as i can afford it , from what i've read its a tanaka with a vsr hop and adjustable power , what's not to like , where did you get it ? rsov list it but no spare mag's as yet on their site.

I bought the gun from RSOV.
I bought Mags from Tiger airsoft (the last in stock) and then as Chris states, from Global.
I am not a fan of CO2 mags but would like to hear more about them if anyone goes down that route.
I see on the PPS Technology website that they have a Mosin Nagant too........
Also, the fact that PPS make upgrade parts for airsoft guns gives me confidence!
Does anyone have FPS readings for this gun with gas / C02 mags? I'm hoping that the C02 clock in at under 500fps but have seen a vid where it pulls 485 on green however I'm not one to trust YouTube over someone whose had it out in the field!
FPS is adjustable for both gas and CO2 as adjustment is made within the bolt.
With the HOP completely off, I can set as low as 260 fps with green gas/propane and greater than 400 fps but have not tried to get a 'maximum'.
I don't have CO2 mags.

Oh boy I have got to get me one of these! Are the shots consistent or does the fps vary very much between shots?
Kind of typical gas boltie results really. See amended first post for details.
thanks for the test results , it is worth testing again with the hop on , gas guns can be less predictable in some ways on the power levels as unlike a spring that reaches max velocity just at full piston travel the gas will continue to expand (temp dependent) until it leaves the barrel .the upshot of this is that hop needs to be adjusted and the weight of bb should be the ones you intend to use , then you need a crono that can be set to different weights to give a true idea of power .... sorry i just geeked out

Yeah, I figured that once the hop is set, things would improve a bit. I don't have the range in my garden to test fire, so it will have to wait until January 4th. As I will be using this at sub 350fps, I will be going with 0.25bbs.
The chrono I have is a good one and can calculate power levels depending upon bb weight. (It is one that we use at Fireball regularly)
I'll post some 'field' results and accuracy info when I can.
nice looking rifle they have some instock at airsoft armoury for £320 save importing

Just out of intrest where did you order from mate?
more frustration , i'm home from work at 1.30 am and the gun's here but i can't play with my new toy till morning .
the mag came from here [link]http://www.gunnerairsoft.com/online/index.php?route=common/home[/link] only place that had stock.
i must say i'm really impressed so far , i just wonder if the bolt will be sold separately as it may be the answer for all the Tanaka owners who want a battle rifle not a sniper rifle , if it fit's that is.

well not meaning to hijack this thread but i've had a chance to play and i'm really impressed , i can adjust the power between 150fps and 510fps and was able to get it to shoot at 335-345fps consistently .
when i first try'd cocking the bolt it felt a bit woolly , i think the paint on the bolt is a tad over thick , once lubed and worked it has free'd up to a nice solid clacky feel when cocking , the bolt came dry as a bone and the mag's as well , the mag's have a sprung tapered brass gas routing collar at the front that i found needed a little lube , it felt fine when warm but once cold it was a little stiffer ,a little lube solved that.
the wood seems a nice quality and well treated if a little dark for my taste , the fit and finish all over was good , only one other issue was the mag well ,when inserting the mag it was quite tight and i had to push it out from above , it turned out that the metal mag well surround had been squeezed in by about half a mm , it was easy to remove the mag well and open it out but it did show me how soft the alloy was , it wont be under any threat of damage in normal or even rough use because its well protected by the woodwork , in some ways it's better that it bent rather than cracking but is a measure of how they are able to make a clone Tanaka for a fraction of the price.
looking at the hammer part on the bolt that was a week point on the early G+G versions i can see some wear after only 100 shots , it's not much but something to keep an eye on .
the stainless steel guide bar on the side of the bolt that can sometimes cause cocking jams on the Tanaka seems to be very firmly attached and has caused not a single alignment issue so far.
i got mine from HKMOUNTAIN i took a chance as i've had issues with them in the past , it arrived safe and sound , the box is solid as is the inner packing , hkmountain had painted the muzzle orange presumably for the American market , the paint was like emulsion paint and came off easily with warm water and a washing up sponge and did no damage to the underlying finish. they also marked it as toy part's $30 so i was not charged Tax

That is a whole heap of toy parts for $30.
If only it was a springer (as the cry always goes) I would be very tempted myself.
I had a little play with mine during one of our regular walk on games. Adjusting the FPS to a site friendly 270 (with 0.25 BBs) took only a few minutes but it was too wet to do any real testing. My extra mags have arrived, so I will have this with me at The Rise of The Tenth on Sunday if anyone wants to take a peek.
