I picked up a second hand Stg a while back and I'm finally starting to work on getting it into better shape, at least as much as my rather novice skills allow.

If anyone knows or could check the size of the spring and bearing in the fire selector switch (both compressed and relaxed length of the spring if possible) for me it would be a great help. What I now think was the bearing was loose rattling about the inside of the gun and I thought it was just a piece of debris cause it was covered in grease and muck. The spring totally surprised me and flew off into the aether the first time I removed the selector switch, I was just expecting a nub sticking out of the part which clicked into the divits not a spring and bearing set up.

I tried to figure it out the sizes based on measuring the hole but my measurements are too inaccurate so the spring I got only just fit in and has too much friction with the sides of the hole and the replacement bearing was much too big.

I've narrowed down most of the other obvious things like putting a shim under the selector plate to raise it up and stop the selector slipping, putting some thin metal on the sides to stop the stock rattle, and I'm pretty sure the hopup could do with being replaced. As far as I know those are the only real issues.

Any other advice concerning the gun you may have would be much appreciated too.

Thanks.

my 44 is buried at the moment but a little advice is to replace the gearbox bearings as they are a rather soft copper/cheese material and wear fast.

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
