You can cut down mid M14 mid caps to make very reliable, well fitting lo-caps which take about 15 rounds and shoot about 12 rounds.
I got the instructions from 2nd Bat on the US ww2 airsoft forum. Unfortunately they were on paper and I lost them, so I thought I would write a guide here because so many people ask.
I cut down my mags from Deep fire 70 rd mid caps (metal ones) as per that guide.
These are the mags: http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ERM-DF-M14-MAG.htm
I am not sure but these KA mags look the same design: http://www.airsoftsupplydrop.co.uk/stor ... x-set.html
Before and after:
The process as I remember:
1) Remove the metal outer by undoing the screw at the bottom and the pin at the top and discard it.
2) Separate the 2 halves of the mag (undo the 6 screws) and remove any loose bits (spring, spring guide, BB “pusherâ€, BB catch & spring. ) Note how they fitted and keep them safe.
3) Screw the 2 halves back together without any loose parts installed.
4) Now with a fine hack saw, cut the mag in to 3 sections horizontally. The cuts need to be just below the top rib and above the second rib. Discard the centre section.
5) Sand down the two surfaces so they are clean of bits of loose plastic.
7) Using Epoxy Resin, glue the top and bottom section together along the outer edges only. NB - Make sure that you don't glue the 2 sides of the mag together. They will need to be separated later.
Once it is set, unscrew and separate the two halves. Make sure the outer BB channel is clear of any bits of plastic which might obstruct a BB.

9) Cut down the spring guide to about 20mm long. Glue it in by the bottom end only to one side of the mag as shown.
10) cut down the spring to about 14 cm
11) Put all the bits back in the mag and screw the 2 halves together and Bob’s your auntie’s live in lover.

nice, do these sit flush with the bottom of the garand?
About as far as the end of the mag catch. If you had more Garand like woodwork which is deeper under the receiver then it probably wouldn't.
