Just ordered some bits from [link]http://www.AirsoftWorld.net[/link], they now have in stock the above wood stocks for those interested. Guess the M14 would be just right for those Garand conversions!
(Disclaimer: I have no connection with Airsoft World other than as a happy customer. :D )

Its possible you may need to do a little remedial work for fitting (ie very minor trimming, sanding etc)- I've just had the M14 stock in light oak and the finish/grain is not any way as good as on say a Tanaka or Marushin - but as I was planning on staining and varnishing it anyway its no great hardship; I would guess the same would go for the M1A1 stock. As a starting point for refinishing they're ideal if the colour isn't to your taste (though the "Mahogany" colour is better than some of the yellow AK wood kits I've seen).

They are designed to fit the airsoft versions of the respective guns as a direct replacement for the "wood effect" plastic stock. They are produced in China under the "Woodking/Crackajack" label, not sure about website though?

I would like to see a large 3700mAh battery fit in that stock, I got a cheap kit from RSOV ( but not the one listed on this thread) it was a load of rubbish, after spending ages getting the stock to fit on the gun & the butt plate to fit in the stock I trierd to fit the grip over the motor, the wood was very thin, once fitted snugly the motor inside gave the wood rigidity, but when I put the screw in the bottom of the grip it pulled through the wood, I was then left with a large hole & a usless grip, I ended up putting a washer on it & a bigger screw but in all fairness plastic stocks / grips have more strength for skirmishing & the latter marui stocks look a lot better than the early ones, they have a nice grain effect to them

Yes I tend to agree not much strength in a piece of wood when it's hollowed out even if it's hardwood, plastic is much stronger. :good:
That’s why I wont fit one!

Ok just managed to test fit my M14 stock, I take back what I said - absolutely no trimming required, its a really good fit actually, 8.4v 3300 battery fits easy peasy, ALMOST big enough for a 9.6v but not quite without work - which may weaken it. The original metal butt end screws straight into threaded brass bushes accurately - the stock comes with metal sling loops ready fitted. The stock feels a little thicker in the grip (ie round the motor) than the plastic stock, but I'd agree it won't be as strong as a plastic stock (which I'll keep just in case . . . ) just need to finish the staining/varnishing now though I don't want it too dark. It is what it is - a cheap(ish) wood stock - which may also be an easier start point for an all wood Garand (M14 AEG based) than a real deal stock if you don't have the Time/woodwork skills/resources/courage to go that route?

The Thompson kit is a very good fit, except for the pistol grip. Mind you, I sorted that in 30 seconds flat with my dremel. After it's sanded and restained, it looks pretty good, especially for the price. Mine is drying at the moment but I'll try to get some pics posted on my next day off.

Well it is possible to do it right.

The CAW wood kit on my tommy gun has lasted over 2 years with heavy skirmishing.

Just now the pistol grip started to crack, but an application of araldite seems to have stopped that.

I had a cheap Chinese wood kit for my AK which had a dodgy hole at the bottom of the grip. I chucked that and got a Guarder one. That is a kit better. So basically buy a cheap woodkit and yes it will suck big time. Buy a more expensive one from a good manufacturer and it'll be just fine.

Here we go, wood kit fully fitted. I may stain it again but I think it looks ok. Much better than the "factory" colour anyway!

Looks good - and no doubt feels much nicer than the plastic stock too!

The quality ones have a better standard of finish though . . . . . . I'd have been interested in your stock myself up till I purchased this one - such is life. Out of interest did it fit the gun as intended or did it need any work?
