Do you have the manual for it? There might be a better quality version of the exploded parts diagram below:
I have only ever had mine stripped down to the outer barrel too, I was tempted to get one of those rifled inner barrels, but bottled it in the end!
Hope you get it sorted!

Maybe you could take a lighter to it and melt it off?

or a small bit of petrol will dissolve glue, BRUSH it on DO NOT SOAK IT. and not whilst trying the previous post with a lighter
