you want plenty of oil worked in to it especially around the knot's , they look lovely but if the wood dry's out it could crack around the knot's and that would be heart breaking.

either Birchwood casey stock oil or boiled linseed oil , i use boiled linseed , it usually takes about a week doing a coat a day and then occasionally when it looks dry .
