Well I decided to make things hard for myself and pick up an S&T ZF39 for my snow wolf spring k98. Now the snow wolf is a pretty accurate replica of the k98, the S&T "other version" that the scope is designed for is not (for more info see Neo035's review on YouTube). Glad I dodged the bullet (bb?) On that one.
This made adding the original stock a lot easier but fitting the scope mount a lot harder.
I had to make a steel adaptor plate to go between the mount and the receiver. Still not 100% convinced on the strength of the tapped material of the receiver but I have four possible options to mount it far more strongly should this be the case. Lets just say I'll not be lifting it by the scope anytime soon.
Full list of the modifications were (if I remember all of them, it took a while)-
Full TnT upgrade kit (hop, barrel, nozzle, piston, spring, sears, spring guide and spring guide T shaped holder thingy)
Made front sight blade adjustable
Original wartime dated stock and upper handguard
Original front band bayonet lug and cleaning rod
Cut down original recoil lug
New more effective safety detent pin and spring
Removed original finish and re-blued all metalwork
Removed casting marks from original metal
Nickel plated and blued the cylinder
Removed front short rail
Cut down stock to accommodate long rear rail
Steel adaptor plate to get the scope mount flush and level
Custom machined bolts to not interfere with the cylinder
S&t scope mount stripped and ground down to a smooth finish with re-blue
Still some minor cosmetic bits to touch up, but hopefully I'll be able to give it a proper field test soon once airsoft sites can operate again.
