I'm after some help and advice please,
I was at the range this evening chatting about the merits of a zf41 scope and one of the guys asked me to describe it to him. He said he may have something similar, and has produced this m46a2 scope. The fact that it clearly has Telescope m46a2 written on it clearly shows it's not a zf41 but it's clearly similar in that the eye relief seems to position it halfway down a rifle.
My Google fu is weak, all I found was broken links and references to big chassis trucks or artilliary pieces.
So to the scope in question, I tried taking photos but artificial light isnt good with my phone camera so I''l take some snaps in daylight and post them up asap.
There are apparently a couple of parts missing, the clamp to fix the mount onto the rifle and the battery pack for the illuminated reticule!
The scope itself is nothing more than a tube that increases in thickness towards one end. It's quite hard to get the eye relief right but when you do you see very fine etched crosshairs and increments below to 4, 8 and 12 which I believe would be hundreds of yards. Above this point on the outer tube is a small hole filled with red glass, when I put an led torch against it the reticule lit up a treat!
The mount is made of bronze apparently, the scope slides into it and locks in place, and a couple of screws to tighten the grip. Above where the red glass hole is there is a small rudimentary switch and a lead coming away from it.
The other section of the mount seems to be a quick release system consisting of a couple of springs and a lever that has what appears to be locking lugs at the other end.
I apologise at time of posting for not having photos but I'll rectify this asap.
So I've got this scope but I have no idea of what it was mounted on, what era it was from or anything like that. Having said that the 46 in the title might be a clue :slap:
Can any of you give me some adice on it please?

Yeah that's the link I couldn't get to work, I just didnt think this was an artilliary sight. Ok it's heavy and I have no experience of aiming anything bigger than a .22 rimfire. I just thoughtan artilliary sight would be bigger.
Any idea what it's worth?
