Thanks for that.
A couple of questions:

1) Which particular gun did you try - TM or Cyma? There are slight differences which might help, or make worse, the problems you mention.

2) If that hole was in the right place, or the screw didn't need to go all the way through into the upper receiver, would there still be the problems you mention? i.e. last time I had mine apart, I noticed the "field strip" button was perfectly adequate to hold the upper on, but the butt needed the second anchor point. A shorter screw, and a nut in the lower receiver, could maybe solve that issue.

I've fitted it onto my mainly CYMA-based hybrid Thompson (well, the upper receiver is CYMA, and that's the important factor in this). Both TM and CYMA plastic lower receivers have previously been fitted to this CYMA upper receiver with no problems at all from either of them (both fitted fine to the same degree). Also the stock mounting holes on both my TM and CYMA plastic lower receivers are the same distance apart - it's only the KA which is ~2mm closer spacing.

2) If that hole was in the right place, or the screw didn't need to go all the way through into the upper receiver, would there still be the problems you mention? i.e. last time I had mine apart, I noticed the "field strip" button was perfectly adequate to hold the upper on, but the butt needed the second anchor point. If the hole was in the right place, then the stock would fit fine a la the plastic receivers. The miss-placement of this hole does not affect or is not the cause of any of the other problems mentioned. With the two receiver halves properly/fully mated together, the mags insert wonderfully well and the 'field-strip' button locates perfectly.
If you're happy with the screw not going up into the upper receiver, then yes; a shorter bolt and nut on the inside of the lower receiver would do fine. I found that there was enough 'slop' in the mounting holes of my stock to allow this closer-spacing of stock mounting bolts to be do-able.

So it seems king arms is trying to make it harder to use on the TM (and clones) which is no surprise as they want you to buy there thompsons in the first place! Nice review! :good:
