I think It would be very easy to convert a Viva or AGM sten to a silenced version and change it back judging by the construction of them.

If they sell the silencer and grip as a kit, I think they'll do well but I can't see many people shelling out for two Stens at £350 a pop. At least as a kit, it should be usable with the AGM clone.

Someone in the UK does do the canvas hand guard - can't remember who (possibly the chaps that make the Piat) but I remember thinking it was blummin expensive for what it was. I must admit I have never seen that handgrip/stock thing before!

Yup... if they sold the silencer and grip as a kit then I'd buy one (price depending)... I'd also be interested in a skeleton stock.

One of the plates that just covered the back end of the receiver for transit would be nice as well.

All possible add-ons for an enterprising metalworker/welder.

It's generally associated with The Resistance. Meant they could hide the sten under their coats... etc...

It must also have made it almost comically inaccurate to fire.

Having done some research into the construction of real Stens, for a while now I've had some ideas floating around in my head of how to make an airsoft sten with a front end that's constructed roughly the same way as the Real Steel. Right down to a 6mm bored metal barrel (no separate inner) and a proper thread-on barrel nut (possibly RS compatible) that could resolve some of the sling concerns raised so far by owners.

Those ideas also include a very simple conversion to the S variant by fitting a suppressor in place of the normal barrel nut.

Having seen some of the pics of the Viva stens, I can see how it might be possible, but until I can get my hands on one, I can't work on the details.
When I get my UKARA sorted, if the prices are still good (or if I can borrow one), a mod for the AGM Sten could be on my "to do" list.

That's what i'm doing, the barrel shroud is threaded, and screws onto the main receiver holding thew barrel assembly in place, so you could swing it around by the sling, and it won't snap in two. I will be using an airsoft inner barrel so that's one less thing to worry about making.

I'm hoping to get a AGM sten, and i have a spare MP5 SD silencer kicking around, I think i shall have to make a small modification :D

If it's like the removable part on my TM MP5 SD6, I think it'll be a bit short for the Sten.

I've been researching gun-drilling, and have the materials to make a 6mm D-bit gun drill.
If I'm right, my 7x12 lathe has just enough capacity for Sten and Thompson barrels... :D

I've got a myford with a 6 foot bed, i could probably make Enfield barrels if i really wanted! I just can't be bothered to make one when i've got a perfectly good box of barrels sat here, that's all.

We're talking about a STEN, here...

... and I believe that this is the first time that the airsoft replica is more accurate than the real thing  :giggle:

Hmm. Enfield barrels... I could probably manage those too - 20mm through spindle. SMG barrels are thicker (usually a bigger bullet), but shorter.
Even if you do use a ready-made barrel inner, you'd still need to bore the outer, unless you can find just the right tubing, or compromise with something close.

Yeah, i'll be turning down some steel bar to make it, but the tolerances/hassles are much less to just slot in an inner barrel, than to drill, polish and make an exactly 6.0-something mm dia.hole.

My old man trained with STENs during his National Service. He said there was a knack to firing them. If you didn't have the knack the rounds went absolutely everywhere and your shoulder got smashed to bits.

Then again he was put on a charge for burying his rifle under a mound of spoil whist digging a trench so maybe he wasn't really soldier material

When they sent my dad to Suez they issued him with a STEN.
He's left handed and doesn't hold fond memories of it!

I can just imagine his face if he saw mine

Have you seen the movie "Hannibal Brooks"?
One of the characters in that is left-hand and uses a Sten. He holds it sideways with the mag pointing straight up!
