I got an HFC VSR-11 for my birthday in October and recently I've noticed that it has become really easy (almost effortless) to cock,. Also, if I tip the rifle forward with the bolt back, the bolt slides forward quite a bit without me pushing it. What I'm wondering is if it's possible that I've buggered it in any way or if it's just me having become accustomed to the action?
does it still fire? if the cylinder head came unscrewed it could feel like this but it would not fire .

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
Just put 10 bbs through it into a shoebox and they went in no problem, so yeah still firing.
Cheers, Dejan.
The action has probably just worn inn ,most gun's are a little tight straight out of the box and loosen up a bit with use.

Ah ok, thanks for the help.
Pulling the bolt back on a VSR type spring rifle will be a little stiff due to pulling back the piston and compressing the spring. Once the piston is locked back in to place on the trigger sear, then it's only the bolt to push back into place. The friction between the piston and the bolt (cylinder) should be minimal as this is designed to be a smooth interface for efficient compression of air, and the main resistance on this forward stroke is any friction between the bolt's outer surface and the bolt housing/receiver. Hopefully due to use, your bolt is just sliding nicely in the reciever now.

Yeah pulling it back isn't as stiff either but as dadio said, probably just the action having been worn in.
Out of curiosity, I was having a bit of a plink with the hop off today (I leave the rifle with the hop off) and the action went oddly stiff, so I loaded it with 5 BBs and tried to cycle them through and they just rolled out of the barrel. I thought I read somewhere that if this happens, you should put the hop on, then fire, so I did and put another 15 through it, which seemed to sort it. Everything back to normal. I'm just wondering if this means that there's a problem, or if it was just a little hiccup?
The hop is what stops the bb rolling out of the barrel ,with it fully off it does not hold the bb back so it will roll out ,the way it works is by protruding a small rubber piece into the top of the barrel ,as the bb passes it skims the rubber and gives the bb back spin ,if it's at minimum adjustment it does not protrude into the barrel at all and it's this protrusion that stops the bb rolling out ,hope that makes sense .

Makes sense yes, I suppose it just surprised me because I shoot it quite a lot with the hop off, but I'll make sure I keep it with the hop on a tiny bit.
Thanks, Dejan.
What spring would you guys recommended to bring the fps down to sub 350? I did the coke can test (poor man's chronograph) about a week ago and from what I gather, my VSR is around the 450-470 fps mark. Also how difficult is it to change the spring?
