I disagree and I've owned a P38 as well. My WE Luger is a great gun and can run perfectly well on green gas, which the P38 would do, just fine until the slide cracks or blows off. At the Bryansk game, I had almost the same range as some Tanaka K98's and achieved a couple of 50 metre hits with it! It's rock solid and very robust and has never skipped a beat. My only criticism of it is the low mag capacity and the ballache of reloading them.
