I just finished giving my MP40 the veteran look. I had the body sandblasted and then used wire wool to give it a very smooth finish. I then coated it in Birchwood Casey Aluminium Black and wiped over it with WD40. I then rubbed it down with wire wool until I had the desired effect. It has left the metal a nice dull oily grey colour
Beautiful

Ralph
Looks nice ,only one issue ,the steel they use on the agm mp40 is crap and rusts even in a dry atmosphere when stored ,I eventually used a clear matt lacquer on mine as I got fed up of cleaning the rust off.

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well

Same here, mine rusts a lot. I've heard a coat of boiled linseed oil over the finish can seal it so I'm going to give that a go soon.

I noticed that during the strip down of the weapon. I think I might try Raffles approach of the boiled linseed oil.
