I am very interested in joining a skirmishing group, I hope to find all the buff I need on here, but without having to trawl through thread upon thread for the answers....

The :wife: is always encouraging me to just get on and join .... Im just not that sure where to start....

Find an airsoft site near to you
become a member
Play at least three games in a three month period

hey presto

(does mean you have to play at open day - which some don't like and wait two months. Oh and it will also cost somewhere in the region of £80 with membership and open day fees :D )

Although having said all that... I haven't done it.

You should go along to EAG Worthing, I think there's an open day next Sunday. Have a look at the website for prices and location. The site is run by a forum member, the regs are friendly and used to a few of us strange WW2ers going along occasionally. I'm hoping to go myself on Sunday, so come up and say hello if you're there.

On the subject of the VCRA legislation:

I am a Danish WW2 ( and vietnam ) airsoft player and organizer. I was contemplating going to one of your games at some point, to get some inspiration for my own games in Denmark. I've read the thread linked to by Chomley-Warner, but it's not that concerned with the questions related to bringing airsoft guns into the UK as a foreigner on a short trip.

What is your take on the situation? Is it importation only the act of buying something abroad, or is bringing something with you across the border, using it in the UK and taking it back abroad still considered importing a RIF?

As a foreign national you are allowed to bring your WW2 airsoft guns into the UK BUT clearly you cannot just hop on a plane with them!
We had just such a situation as this with or German friends coming over here last year.
You must get in touch with our Customs people who have a specialist chap who is very helpful and knowledgeable and will sort out the required paperwork. Clearly this will need to be cleared with the airline too, who again are used to this and will advise on procedures.

If this is likely to become a reality I'll rummage and find the details of the contact but anyway, in answer to your question - yes, it is OK for you to bring kit in on a temporary basis.

Thanks a lot.
I'll get back to you if we'll ever realize this idea.

We will probably realize this if we are able to find a combination of the following:
- There is a game that seems to offer something more than what we've already tried.
- There are cheap airline tickets available.
- We are not hindered by work or other commitments.

This is quite a list of requirements, so it may take a while before this situation occurs, if ever. But I'll keep a watch on this forum to look for games satisfying the first criteria...
