Ok, a budget suggestion. Get one of AGM's MP001 - a VSR10 clone, wrap hessian around the fore end of the rifle, as was done regularly by Snipers of all sides in WW2, then attach a cheap scope to it. Voila. 400+ FPS bolt action rifle fun in a fake wooden stock.

I second Steiner about skirmishing the MP40. I have used mine 3 times at GZ and have never felt it inadequate in any way shape or form. :D

you can fit a VSR (or clone) into a pukka K98K stock.

Is that legal? I was under the impression that that kind of counts as re-activating a de-activated rifle. Or is it that it's only the original stock so it doesn't count?

If it is OK, does anyone know if/where you can get garrand/enfield stocks because although it's probably well beyond my limited ability, I might give it a go?

Yes it is legal, as you are only using accesorys that have not been part of a de-activated gun. If you take bits off a de-act thats when you are re-activating. You can get almost everything for the enfield from sentimental journey, I think you can also get aroumourers manuals that tell you how to put together the stock and the metal bands, It only takes a limited knowledge of wood and metal working and a limited tools.

I was going to do this using a SMK Cheepsoft rifle that costs

Ok, here's the gen on doing such things, as double checked by the people who deal with our firearms and explosives certification at work.

1: NO parts off a deac. Period. I dont care what others say, I believe people who have the words "firearms" and "law" in their job description far more than any other people.
2: NO pressure bearing parts.
3: NO parts without which a firearm cannot function as a firearm.

Some examples:

OK - stocks, sling swivels, sights
Not OK - Bolts, firing pins, gas parts.

Giderrider - You'd buy SMK stuff? wouldnt touch it with a fucking bargepole, but thats cos of the history those arseholes have with trying to stitch airsoft in the UK up. Let alone the fact that its people like them selling 5 quid Airsoft guns to Chav scum thats ended up with us getting messed around by the VCR Act.

Try http://www.gunnerairsoft.com for cheap kit :)

It was a gift, so rather than say oh thankyou but this is shite i thought i would try and use it for somthing first, if I had a choice It would have been a VSR or HFC. BUT the rifle is quite well made and performs well.

I agree with you on the cheep springers smk are chukking out to cornershops and market traders, if it wasnt for these dealers, airsoft would not have got quite so much negative press, but to say it is entirely their fault would be irresponsible and wrong.

Okay, not all of it. But a very healthy majority is the fault of SMK, 3PSA and back in the old days, Amerang. The vast majority of "bb guns" picked up by the plod off of Chav scum are from the cheap end of the market. Simple fact.

I'm not having a go at you matey, I've just been in this so long now, and in so many different aspects of the activity (Player, Site Head Marshal, Magazine writer) that i've picked up a lot of background info over the years - and its made me incredibly jaded

Anyways, back on topic...

BTW, is the cheapo rifle you've got a "Sauer 90"?, if so, then its a rebadged UHC Super 9. If it is, then personally, i'd advise against using it for a No 4, as internal upgrades and spare parts are pretty much non-existent for them. You would be better off with either a copy of the APS2, or preferably, the HFC copy of the VSR-10 (LOADS of spares and upgrade parts around for both of them!)

I didnt think you were having a go mate. I think a lot of the presure has come from replica fire arms being a soft touch, just like Auto's and handguns were.

Its the Cyber Gun(The sucsessor to 3PSA) "M6 Black Eagle", from what I can tell its a copy of the APS. It has a reletivly decent range, elegedly 58 meters, and FPS, clocking 328 out of the box.

As I said It was a gift, and at the time I was planning to build a No4. If it works out OK I will use a better rifle, this is pretty much to see what I can do, and how it would work, and hopefully i will end up with 2 working No 4's, so I will be able lend out to get mates involved :)

heh, Cybergun. I've got some amusing tales about that lot, but they come across far better face-to-face than on t'Internet.

Yup, decent enough base for repro No 4. Plus, if you end up building one at 328 and another one at 500 fps, then you've got the option to use either one or t'other at all Airsoft sites (barring certain 300FPS CQB sites, but hey, who wants a bolt action in CQB?)

Well, it was good for a laugh. Then I realised that 50% of LFU use MINIMIs, 20% use G36, 20% use Armalites, 9% use other spaktard AEGs, and then their was me, 1% using 2 BAs and a nakkard GBB. Oh how I laughted.

Ask Chumberly and Yith how heroically I faced up to the superior firepower.

Im afraid you might be asking a bit much at the mo mate. Keep your eye out for a cheepsoft Thompson the chinese are bringing out soon, but dont hold your breath.

Otherwise import OR have you thought of going for a BA Springfield Sniper instead of the garand?
